engine swap idea
sorry if this has been posted before, but I'm new here and probably didnt do too good on the search function. But can you swap a 96 3.8L with a 4.3 out of a s10? If so, what kind of mods and I gonna have to pull off? Oh, and is it gonna work with the stock stick tranny from the camaro as well?
Re: engine swap idea
Well, in a sense, you can swap anything in if you are willing, but if you really want an engine that will fall on its face around 4000 rpms, the 4.3L v6 is it.
You're going to need the whole drivetrain and it's no easier than an LT1 swap. Really. Some custom work involved from what I have read in other forums, too, since it's not a factory option. Custom torque arm, exhaust routing work, etc, etc, etc...
The 3.8L has a 60* bellhousing pattern, the 4.3L is a 90* pattern, just like the v8's.

Hey man, you're down in Alvin, my cousin's Sami and Jared, and my Aunt Candy and so on live down there. I'm only like an hour away from there. But yeah, I figured it'd be a pain in the as to pull off, I was just going for something with a little oomph but with the gas milage a 6 gets compared to an 8.
Re: engine swap idea
Dude, the 4.3 v6 that you want....lemme guess the 280 HP one...it's mileage is like a bad v8's. About 15 City, 19 Highway. An LT1 is 275HP and gets 19 City 28 Highway, and is way better suited for your vehicle. Truck motors are a waste of time.
