driveshaft....car is broken down right now

Ok so my camaro hit 200,245 miles.... and today left me stranded.... so I was able to determine the issue... it is the driveshaft.... I dont ever work on camaros so sorry for my ignorance... seems that it is a 2 piece shaft or that is where the 2 meet for the axle play (in and out).... but one side turns and the other doesnt..... so guess a new shaft is in order....

so my question...

are there any cars that can cross reference with driveshaft from a junkyard?

what tools are needed to do a curb side driveshaft swap?
I will swap it out on the road... side road.... to drive home.... however I need to know exactly what tools are needed... other than the typical jack and jackstands.....

thanks!
Jeff

p.s. today I am gonna go to a chevy dealership to look at what they have...

You can use any driveshaft 83-02. If I were I'd get a one piece steel one from any V8 Fbody. They are lighter than the stock V6 two piece one and are a direct swap. If you want to spend a little more money you can get one of the aluminum ones also.

well thanks for the info... well I got the car home and just gave it away...
gave the car to my bro for his daughter... they know the car needs some work to get back in great shape... really the car is in good shape. just needs a few odds and ends... starting with a d-shaft..

I went to a dealership and bought a tow rig to get it home.... and replace it too...

bought a 2008 chevy silverado 1500 crew cab z-71
im loving it... not the fastest thing and not as good on gas... but really nice...
