Angry damn integra beat me!

well this guy at school has an intgra and he wanted to race me. so i said umm yea ill race you. i have a 95 vert. 3.4 with flowmasters, and we did three races. two from a stop and one from a roll. he won me in all three. I thought that i would beat him at least by a half car, but he ended up beating me by a half car. He's rubbing it in of course, so i was woundering what i should do, get headers and a CAT, or go for K&N c a i kit with pullies. would i pull him then?? because i have 350 dollars in my acount, i know its not much but i can do something with my car. so tell what i need to win him next time.

alright im guessing it was an integra LS because the integra GSR and Type R would of beat you pretty good. I raced an integra LS with CAI when I was bone stock and I beat it by about 2 1/2 or 3 cars off the line and at 70 mph he just passed me very slowly. Now I have the mods in my sig and have not raced him yet . Im guessing if I race him then he would get beat pretty good. Do your self a favor and save your money and buy exhaust , intake , headers , and underdrive pullies. And when you buy this stuff then race him and hand him his ***.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the odds are most likely stacked against you. You have a 3.4liter vert, which means youre ~160hp stock and have an extra few hundred pounds vs a hardtop car. I'll just estimate it at 3500lbs.

The Integra, weighs less than 3000lbs and has similar power. If he's an LS, it should be close, but if hes a GSR (170hp) or better, you stand no chance.

I'd say get all the boltons you can afford. Intake, exhaust, cat should get you and extra 15hp or so. It's still gonna be close. If

I were you though, Id say f*** wasting my money to beat this one kids car and spend my money on things to make my car more enjoyable to me. I say this just because its common knowledge that the 3.4L camaros werent really that fast... youre kinda starting at a disadvantage if you know what i mean. Youre gonna invest a lot of money and still get messed around with by modded imports. The money would probably be better spent on just exhaust (for your listening pleasure) and a nice stereo. But then again, thats just my opinion.

^^^^^What bigsteve said. I got an exhaust just for a better sound and to get rid of that nasty single tip! I bought the CAI just for a little extra punch, which it delieved (I drove a stock 95 V6 A4 bird a few months ago, it definetly felt slower than my car).

I have basically stopped buying crap for my car. I don't want to keep adding stuff to make it only slightly faster, when overall it will still be slow.

If you want to buy a power mod, buy a CAI. Well worth the money, IMO.

And screw that dude in the Integra, you have a ****ing convertable!! People (guys and girls) dig those things!

I say do what you want and what you feel is right for you . If you wanna go out and spend $15,000 dollars on your 3.4L camaro vert then do it!!! You will be greatly respected by me . Im gonna keep my car forever , I dont care , I love the my chevy camaro 3.4L and will make it to be as fast as Tiago's turbo 3.4L one day. Ive got much respect for people like that and thats what I will do and am proud! .

Cool

You and the Integra are in the same horsepower range and he has less weight. I'm not sure what mods he has, but if all you have is a muffler (Flowmaster...singular) then he has the sure advantage.

99% of the Integras I've seen are nothing except an exhaust and maybe an intake. Haven't had any problems with them...I doubt any 3.8s would or even any modded 3.4s.

With $350, get a CAI. You'll get a lot better acceleration the higher the RPMs you go. No better $350 mod I can think of.

yea i forgot to mention that he has intake and exhaust. i would have won, off the line i killed him, but in the higher rpms thats where he got me cuz i had A4 and he has stick. o well, looks like i have to get a lil more money and a couple mods and take him out real quick. thanks for all the opinions, i think im going to go with the CAI and pullies and sell my car in a little bit and get a V8.

I agree with what TheV6Bird said. If it hurts your ego that much, save your bucks and buy a Z when you can afford it and the insurance.
Right now, just enjoy the sweet car that you have. I bought my 3.4L A4 because it was well kept, low miles, a good price and the brightest most gorgeous red I've seen. I know it's not fast but that's why I have my 1970 Camaro. If I were you and you're not planning on getting rid of it anytime soon, invest in some sound and visual mods. Maybe a ground FX package, SS spoiler(not a wing!), and some wheels. Take it to a detail shop and get it cleaned, buffed and shined up so it's like a piece of glass. Of course this is going to cost more than $350...but do it over time. You're young...you have lots of time.

I can't think of a chic that wouldn't choose a ride like that over a boxy little integraturd. ...well, lets just say "any chic in her right mind" Then, the next time you're cruising around with a couple chics/friends and you see your buddy handing the cop his license and registration...you can just honk and wave!

I know it's tough to be satisfied with what you have. I struggle with it too, but I'm biding my time till I can afford an LT1 Transplant. It's not going to be for a while, but I'm not going to waste my money modding a car that still going to be dusted by most any V8 out there.

Cool

Well Id like to add that Im sorry that you lost hehe....Losing to an import hurts the ego a bit.....

While all of these people are giving great advice on upgrades, theres another thing you have to learn, if you havent already....

How you race, and how well of a racer the Integra guy is determines a lot, because in my camaro at first, I was getting beat quite often, until I got used to it, and learned her sweet spots, such as the rpms that she likes to really launch. Also pedal techniques....I bet froma stand still, youll notice a difference in performance if you floor it straight out, or if you easy the gas pushing faster once you hit about half way.... (I dont mean SLOWLY slowly, but you know....)

Theres a lot of people out there who have mods, turbo, sc, whatever, and dont know wtf theyre doing...Ive taken out my friends VR-4 because he cant drive for shiet....and A strangers Turbo Eclipse (that was just because Eclipses SMD).

Try new things, maybe find some reading on it, once you get a feel for your car, youd be surprised what tricks you could pull off to beat people who cant adjust.....Just some thoughts.

Just make sure when you DO get the mods.....that you tear him a new one for me hehe.
