crappy fuel guage...

i have a '98 and my fuel guage is anything but accurate. it stays pegged at full about half way through the tank (about 8 gallons from full) and only then starts actually moving down. so when the guage gets unpegged, it actually means i have half a tank of gas left.

anyone else have this? know how to get around it? maybe there is a faulty sensor i could replace for cheap?

There is nothing wrong with it, all 4th gens i've seen are that way. I'm told its because the tank is shaped like a big V, since there is so much more volume at the top it the level drops much slower than it does towards the bottom.

another reason gas should be guaged by weight instead of volume.

thanks for the info. :/

Yup, I've got a '96 Camaro and I have the same problem. At least you haven't run out of gas yet thinking you still have 1/8th of a tank left.
