Cooling Problem

I've got a 95 Camaro w/3.4L V6. Since I bought the car the temperature has been running pretty low- around 160 degrees or lower. When I checked the radiator, I found that it was half empty and the overflow tank was also nearly empty, even after a 100 mile run at 70mph. So i filled the radiator up to the cap and put a little in the overflow tank. Now the car is leaking coolant. It's not leaking from the waterpump, but appears to be coming from the right side of the timing cover. When the pressure builds is leaks alot and it's been getting worse. I've replaced the thermostat and the radiator cap which seems to have allowed the car to run hotter (ca. 180-190 degrees) and flushed out the old coolant, but it still leaks. The overflow tank has never reached the HOT level ever. What could possibly be wrong here? Would a leaking timing cover gasket be the problem? That's going to cost $600+ dollars too replace at PepBoys. I'm at wits end here with this problem and any help would be appreciated!
