Coolant boiling over the overflow tube

I have a 1995 camaro and a couple nights ago i was idling in a parking lot for about 15 minutes before work and the engine overheated and started smoking but having to work i couldnt check it out so i idled the car when i got home and it started smoking after 15-20 minutes. I took a look and i noticed coolant was boiling over the overflow tube. But i never seen anything like this before and have no idea whats going on. Can anyone help me out?

Re: Coolant boiling over the overflow tube

Do you mean the coolant was flowing out of the reservoir overflow (under the battery), or out of the flexible hose that connects the radiator overflow at the neck, to the reservoir?

Is this the 3.4L V6 or the 3.8L V6? Both were available in 1995.

Either the radiator cap is not able to hold the required pressure (16-18 PSI), or you've blown a head gasket. Test the cap. An auto parts store will usually test it for you.
