Compressor

My AC hasn't worked in a couple of years. Well i can't take it anymore with the Florida heat and when a compressor goes bad doesn't it start to leak? Also what the best way to see if its leaking?

Also this is a 3.8 V6

It might not have anything to do with the compressor you may just have a leak elswhere in the system. Take it to a shop and have them charge the system and at the same time have them put some "dye" in it. The dye glows in the dark and in a few days you can search for any possible leaks with a black light.

yeah they should be able to fill it with refrigerant for well less than $100... then it should work and last for maybe a few days maybe a few months. I had a similar problem last year and I was planning to get rid of the car as soon as I could afford a new one. So, last year so about mayish I filled it with refrigerant and it lasted until late October and then it was time for t-tops... of course it is really best and environmentally correct etc., to fix the leak and if I remember right they quoted a little over $300 to do that

its kind of tough to do AC work on your own
