Cold Air Kit

Hello-

I just bought a 1999 Camaro with the V6, and wanted to add some power;

Has anyone heard about the Austin Ram Air Kit (SSRA)?
This air kit can be found at: http://www.lmperformance.com/5610/13.html
Does anyone know how much of a modification this would be; will I have to alter my car alot (drill holes or perm. alter anything)?

Is the Summit racing chip worth the 300 bucks?

What else do you recommend?

Re: Cold Air Kit

i would go with intake for the first mod followed by a full exhaust system (Headers, high flow cat, catback exhaust)

as far as the austin ram air, its easy to install and alot of people use it, tho myself, i never have. All you hafto do is remove the stock factory air baffles from the throttle body to the air filter lid. Then you take the filter lid off, the air filter out and you will hafto cut out the bottom of the air box, making a open passage from under your car air dam to right up to the bottom of the air filter. And in between there, thats where the ram air ducts will go in. It will take 2 hours tops to do, with simple hand tools. I believe to remove the air box its a 10mm socket...

headers i would go with pacesetter....cheapest for the best deal, 95% of us V6ers run them. They work.

High flow cat...SLP or mangaflow

catback exhaust....i myself prefer the magnaflow but SLP loudmouth is real nice (but loud obv.) and of course you have the favorite Borla (most expensive)

I myself wouldnt buy one of those chips. For 400$ i bought HP tuners which is a self tuning program i hook up to my car with my laptop...i can do anything then go back and change what i want, when i want too. I would only do this tho if you plan on serious mods in the future. Other wise there is tuning companies that you can send your PCM too and they will tune it for you, for $300.
