you may have a brake circuit code. keep the vehicle running when the light comes on and then check it.

Use a good scanner to pull the codes.

All the world's guesses won't help until then...there is a code in the memeory, you just have a crappy scanner trying to do the job.

I have the same problem with mine. The dealer and auto zone come up with an 'error' reading and tell me not to worry about it. Don't worry? Fans come on with the SES light. Any other ideas????? I'm stumped

What year is your car? If you have a 95,then you'll have an OBDII style diagnostic port but a OBDI style PCM so they will need a special connector to pull the codes.

had the same problem but I was able to read the code.. think it was code P0406 & P0441.. always seem to happen when low rpm (say 2K) at lower ( not highway ) speed then all of a sudden let of gas to coast or stop.

The fix was easy on the EGR valve ( 2 bolts and one wire connector ) but the EGR valve was a little pricey.. that erased the P0406 code.. then I diagonsed the P0441 code to be dealing with the EVAP system and I can't remeber if it was either the purge switch or the actaul canister, want to say it was the purge switch which is an easy fix
