Cat

I've got a 96 3.8 with flowmaster and 2.75" I pipe. I was just wondering if anyone knows what kinda sound i'd get if i took the cat right off and put a straight pipe all the way to the muffler. right now my cat comes out at the stock 2.25" pipe before going to the 2.75" so its still restricted. I wanted to take the cat off and replace the smaller pipe with the larger. Will this increase my hp noticeably if at all?? Any suggestions as to what i should do would be greatly appreciated. Thanx alot!!

Taking the cat off of your car will make it louder. If you increase that pipe you will be looking at 3-6 hp. The major flow restrictor on our cars it the muffler...if you are increasing your pipe 1/2 inch on a basically stock car it should add you a few hp...but not a whole lot. I was going to order a 3 inch pipe coming from the cat plus the over the axle pipe... because i was going to buy an exhaust system from slp from one of their events for cheap because lacked those pipes... and it was going to run me about 160 bucks.

Does anyone know what kind of sound i would get because i really don't want my car sounding like a sewing machine. If anyone has heard a V6 with no cat, 2.75" I-pipe, and muffler, or something similar, please let me know what it sounded like, thanx
