yep and it did well...

there is a thread that came up with a fact I didn't know... DOHC 3.4L was originally 280 HP N/A, GM detuned it so the transmissin can hold up to it. According to this thread.

Also ahd some discussions with some Fiero guys taht increased HP 27 fly wheel hp on a RWD 3.4L by dumping the upper intake plenum and using a middle intake plenum off a 2.8L MPFI motor, and some 2.5 in. exhasut piping.

This is on a stock RWD 3.4L, found in f-bodies.

It will take some serious $$$$ but it would be worth it. I would be pi$$ed if my LT1 was ever stomped by a 3.4.

so if you want to keep telling people its possible to get 300 hp out of a 3.4 go ahead. even i will be excited when i see it, but if i hear you say its reasonable i will tell the world you are full of shlt.
Yeah, I don't want to keep pouring $$$ into my car only to have it still be slow. I'll save up for a faster car for the future.

But that's just me. If anyone here wants to mod their 3.4, then go for it; whatever floats your boat. But personally, I just wouldn't want to do it.

Going fast costs money plain and simple. The question is, who is willing to pay for it?

How do you think the LT1/LS1 guys got to where they are today? When the car first comes out they go and PAY big $$$$ to have custom cams ground or heads ported, stroker kits etc... When a great combo is found, a kit is made and presto! They have paved the way for others to follow by taking up most of the development costs.

Your 3.8s and 3.4s are faster than old V8s of the past, with enough effort they can be very fast 13's 12's or even 10's and 9's. You just have to pay to play. Turbo Buick guys did it, Honda guys do it...it's no different. The ONLY reason today's V6 cars aren't faster is nobody is willing to stick around and invest when a V8 is so easy to obtain.

mustangeater, when i asked you if you thought i was in the 14s it was a rhetorical question. i know i am in the 14s! i am damn near 13s. i have 14s timeslips on my shelf all day long. my goal when i started modding my car was 14.2, then i dropped it to 14.0, now its 13.9.
i am just saying not everybody is on that timeslip page. yeah i am a member of that board, but i never got around to it. and i have been in the 14s since jan of 2001 and i was in the low 14s since feb 2001. i know other 6s out there that are just as fast as me and they too are not on that page. thats all i was saying. its a good tool but it is not perfect. what i have learned from my experience, the guys who have truly modded cars dont spend as much time on message boards as we do. we are just lucky to have each other to share this with. a lot of the people i have met at the track never even think of getting on such boards. maybe cause they are older than us, but then i am 30 years old myself.
