Can a 3.4L firebird be put into the 14's N/A with bolt ons?

I kinda like my V6 and wanna keep it, but it is sooooo damn slow. I am trying to decide what i wanna do and I think it would be challenging to try and get it in the 14's N/A with bolt on's and a few minor mods. I know a good place to start would be gears, then intake and ignition. Has anyone ever done this?

I think real low 15's are possible, but 14's are gonna be tough without going internal. The fastest NA 3.4 is MustangEater82 with a 15.45, he is also internally stock. He does still have some mods that he could do...headers, a chip or programming, and some drag radials might get him damn close.

if you want to go fast, then you should have the motor built. i am building mine right now. i am looking at around 325hp at the flywheel.good power from a 3.4L. this is n/a.

Good luck on getting 325 hp NA from a 3.4! You'd definitely be a pioneer, the most anyone else has gotten NA is around 240-250. You'd definitely be a legend around here if you did though.

the only way a 3.4 is going to get 14s is with a little string attached to a big jet if you want to keep the mods simple.

Like said, I ran a 15.456.

I think stuff left before I got really seroius is chip, or programing, headers... might help me out, but I am not planning on trying them, I have a different exhaust setup then I did with my 15.45, and I am having troubles with too much flow... But I kind of planned it that way, I am going to make my exhaust so I can tune it to how I want it.

And I seem to be the exception of the rule14s N/A easily with bolt ons, I honestly don't think it too easy, maybe possible but no one has done it.

14s are kinda hard for some 3.8Ls to hit.

On this timeslip page, http://timeslips.firebirdv6.com/
35 out 110 3.8Ls have hit 14s, and 14 of those 35 ran a 14.9, its not as easy as you would think.

good luck though it might be possible, I think maybe modifying the upper intake and TB to flow more will make a difference.

Nothing is impossible but I'd really doubt it...

Cool

Ive got probly every bolt on engine mod you could put on a 3.4L except for a stage 2 jet chip that I ordered yesterday and is supposed to be coming in a few days . I have not ran my car at the track yet and I havent clocked it on G-Tech yet either. I do believe a 3.4L could get into the 14's with only bolt ons , slicks , and also weight reduction would help alot too. I cant wait till Eric (MustangEater) does more mods to his car !! He is so close to hitting 14's and still hasnt done headers or a chip !!

Ryan, you dont have a thermostat, the chip, pulleys, a TB spacer, the IAT resistor for what its worth, etc. But you do have a big list of mods that seem to make your car run pretty well.

A transgo, corvette servo and stall converter would also help tremendously, ryan.

Well, if bolt-ons fail you, nitrous will definately get you the rest of the way.

I wouldnt spend too much money on attempting this though. LT1 cars arent that expensive. Buying all of these boltons will add up really quick and the et's will come down slowly. Just remember a nice LT1 can be bought for around $6500. If you do make it to the 14s youll have a truly unique car though.

Pulley didn't help me much....

IAT resistor, I don't know its wierd... I was gonna try it out agian.

IAT module form SLP uses same as a 4700 ohm 1./2 watt resistor, which I read at www.installuniversity.com that it tells the car its 57 degrees. they put in a 8100 ohm resito that mad eht car read 37 degrees, advancing the timing to the perfect point.... on a LS1.

Seems we might wanna try taht I have tried it before, not sure if I fel a gian, if there was one not really that big.

But it is like $0.07 for a pcdak of resistors.

I am not sure I will ever do headers, I might do it one day or because I want to fix my snapped EGR bolt problem with ease.

160* stat is nice, and I would doo it Ryan living in FL, flush your coolant system and repalce your stat at the begiening of the summer, probable need a new thermostat anyways, no real power gains buyt keeps engine temps down.
