There's a good bit you can do to a 3.4, lots of stuff available at FTPP.net

I'm using the Comp Cams 260H, nice streetable off-the-shelf cam, 1.6 rockers give it .470 lift and a little more than the advertised 212 duration. Stock cam is .390/.410 and 195/201.

You can get a basic tune at fastchip.com or just go with a Jet Stage2 module. Also any of the LT1 intakes will work on the 3.4 and the cat-backs are very similar as well.

I tried 19# injectors from a 3.8 but they ran too rich, had to put the stock ones back in.

forgive me for being dense, but how does an Lt1 intake work on a 3.4L?

thanks. I think i'll probably do something like the setup you mentioned. sounds like a decent way to have some fun, yet stay pretty close to stock.

I did a little more research and noticed that in 1995 the camaro came with the 3.4L or the 3.8L.... So, since i'll be getting a junkyard motor anyway, can't i just put a 3.8L from a 1995 camaro in it, and just buy the wiring harness and computer to go with it?

Cold-air intake. The LT1 and 3.4 can use the same one. Just look up the part # for the K&N FIPK. Or any other brand for that matter. Moroso, SLP, etc. The 95-97 3.8 can also use any of the same intakes but you have to get a rubber elbow to use with it. The LT1/3.4 come stock with the 90° elbow.

You could try the swap, I've never heard of anyone attempting it before. 94-95 3.4 share the same ODB-I PCM and the 3.8 is ODB-II so I don't know if the harness will mate up. Pretty sure the trans housing is different, I know 3.4 uses an external slave and the 3.8 T5 has it internal. Not sure about the K-member, I know the 3.4 is different than the LT1. The 3.8 has 2 fans. That's all the differences I can think of for now.

They can't touch the 3.4 PCM unfortunately, I've already asked them.

The only one I'm aware of is fastchip.com and they only offer a basic mail-order tune.

how do they tune the 3.4L PCM? on my car w/ the LT1 we plug in the laptop and tune it while driving. I figured it was the same for the v6 cars. anyone know how much fastchip.com costs?

You can get software for many cars but just not the 3.4 - nobody makes it. I don't know why Fast Chip is the only one. They charge $350 I believe.

snag the appropriate 3800 v6 out of a junkyard, and get a "heaton" M90 for $300 off of ebay and fit it into the engine compartment

everyone who has contributed ideas and information here have been very helpful. I have always appreciated the thoughts of this community since I joined in 2000.

call me whatever you want.. but i might end up going back on what i said about doing an Lt1 swap into this car IF, and only IF i can get this engine. I found an engine trans and computer for probably cheaper than i'd ever get the v6 for.

so how crappy is it to change the dash harness.. that's the only thing i really cringe at is taking the dash apart. are there any online directions that make it easier?

the swap would be from 1995 3.4L m5 to 1995 5.7L A4. lots of garbage going from manual to auto i suppose as well

input?

If i can't get the engine as cheap as i think i can, i'm still going to just put a 3.4L back into it

Check out www.v6conversion.com for details on all the parts you'll need to go to the LT1 in there.
