Backfiring
Backfiring
Hey
I just put on the V8 cat back on my V6. Sounds great and all, and def made the car go a bit quicker, but its backfiring. Im told its supposed to do that. Is that true? My friend has a flowmaster on his V8 and it backfires as well. I dunno. I would recommend everyone trying to mod a V8 cat back on their stock V6. If you look in the muffler the 2" inlet drops down to less then 1.5". So its really restrictive.

if you are backfiring when accelerating then you have a problem. if backfiring when revving up or decelerating then it is normal.
oh by the way nice audio system. how do you like those JL XR's? i have XR components in the front, and coaxil's in the rear running off a JL 300/4 amp. i also have 2 12 W3s in a custom box running off a JL 500/1 for SQ, and 2 JL 15 W1s for SPL off the same amp. i love the XR's though they are a very clean sounding speaker.

Backfiring and back pressure are two totally different things. If you hear a poping from the exhaust pipes on deceleration or when you let a gear wind down this is normal. You can really hear a backfire, I'm guessing your describing the poping. Some people like it, some dont. Personally i do.
