Wink Auto Vs Manual

My friend and I both have Camaros but his is manual and mine is Automatic. Today we decided to have a friendly race just for fun. II really thought his 1995 V6 3.8 (Engine Swap) with Flowmaster Quad Exhaust Camaro would beat my stock 1999 with the Sports Handling Package. He thought he would “smoke” me and I agreed. However, I felt it would be fun just to see how much of a difference does that sports package would have.

Well I beat him the two times we raced pretty good and he gave up. He races quite often so not like his just a real bad driver...So what happen? Does that sports handling package make a real difference or what?

1995 Manual, V6 3.8,. Flowmaster Quad Exhaust Vs 1999 Automatic Sports Handling Package (Stock) = Auto wins?

(Yes this thread is in the unofficialz28 forums too but I like to have different ideas and opinions from different message boards)

Probably gear ratios made a difference here. I'm assuming since his was a manual it had 3.23's and yours being a Y87 has 3.42's. If I'm correct on this the 3.42's should hook and launch better than 3.23's.

I am pretty sure both manual V6s and Y87 optioned autos got 3.42s. I think it was your friends driving.

EDIT: I have been corrected.

i don't know about a 3.4L manual, but all 3.8L manuals came with 3.23 gears. the Y87 on your auto car has 3.42s with LSD. you probably hooked up better.
