Re: ARRGG Lost to A GT!!!!!

i know a kid who busted his tranny i think doing that in his t bird....so i just kick it into the Drive setting and let the auto do the work....

o yea and if i reved my car at 2500 and punched it still be sitting there....i cant go any higher then 1500 and even then squeal a bit. ah yes and that tuning where can i get info about doing that to get my fan helping me out a bit...cuz i heard lowering your engine temp can increase your ish by like5 hp or so...and the thermo only cost me like 15 bucks uncluding shipping

also why would my car say 4100 if in fact it was 3300?? also where can i find out what the rest of the stuff on the door mean?

4100 might be the rating (as in the heaviest the car should be with people and cargo and stuff.) ill tell you right now i can GUARANTEE you are nowhere near 4000 pounds. my car only weighs 3400 pounds even. the V6s tend to be a bit lighter because of the lighter duty suspension parts and smaller motor and such.

the codes on the door are called RPO Codes. search GM RPO Codes or F-body RPO codes or something like that, im sure you'll find a site that explains them.

im assuming you mean you had the car in neutral at 2500 rpm and then popped it into drive???? i cant see you being able to power brake the car up to 2500 rpm.

if you are neutral dropping, you're lucky you haven't blown the tranny and/or rear to pieces by now. thats a REALLY REALLY bad idea.....

I beat 2 Gts my last time at the track, with only a short shifter Hell I even spun to 2.3 60's.

hehe one even redlighted me and I caught up and pulled at the topend close race but I won

course both cars were not t-top shape trapping like 90ish in humid weather, I was trapping ~92

You seem to overlooking the "on the street" that I specifically included in that post.

that's because somehow, you have a mid 14 second stock 3.8....pre 99 GTs are high 14 second cars and its not uncommon to see an automatic (im not bashing autos here as i have one, but simply put the 4R70W ford automatic sucks bigtime) run in the 15.0 range.

you're an unusual case though, most 3.8s are NOT going to be able to comfortably beat a SOHC 4.6 in stock form.

Re: ARRGG Lost to A GT!!!!!

So anyone have any ideal of how long a car will run without the serpentine belt?

We are talking street here right?

Re: ARRGG Lost to A GT!!!!!

I'm probably opening myself up to getting flamed bigtime here, but o well. My 3.4 A4 has taken pre-99 GTs (autos) on the street as well as a L98 (I think thats the engine code) vette. My conclusion: either they forgot to replace the drain plug last time they changed the oil or were merely casually accelerating to 95+ mph. I dunno...

not gonna flame ya but i don't think your car has the capability to beat an L98 Vette....however, a bad driver is a bad driver even if he drives a vette, so your kill is still a kill...

Re: ARRGG Lost to A GT!!!!!

There are some guys down here that can't get their 03 cobras into the 8's (eighth mile) so I guess a bad driver really can kill performance. Oh yea, pre 99 Gt's were running mid to high 9's. A guy with an SS ran about an 8.8 on street tires. Looked stock under the hood. Whats a 3.4 auto run in the eighth, mid to high 10's perhaps?

Re: ARRGG Lost to A GT!!!!!

Their is a kid at my College with a 99GT, he would always rev at me so I started to stalk him through the parking lots
One day we both pulled out same time-he was a crappy Manual driver and I had the advantage with the launch, he got himself cornored in traffic and I zipped around
I wouldnt have won on a straight road, but it's fun to play
