Another 95 camaro that wont start!

I'll start of with this camaro has a
3.4 SFI (s1G3.4VV8GAEA/s1g1058aym0b)

First problem 16 pin OBD2 But OBD1 Certified which means my scanner wont work as i have a cheapo OBD2 scanner. So no codes!

Problem started slowly over a few months car would have longer and longer cranking times before it fired. On my way to work one day, it hit 30 mph and then dropped to 2k rpm so i limped it back home, on my next day off i went down and threw a fuel pressure gauge on it and found

No fuel pressure with just key on!
Idle 34psi
2k rpm 32psi
4k rpm 32psi

I can get the car started by spraying gas in to Intake (incase you are wondering how i got these readings :P )

Car will run once its started and runs great. Now another thing is that once car is warmed up its pretty much hit and miss getting it to start even if you spray gas into the intake.

Any ideas would be great.

PS the local autoparts guys even after i explained to them how to get their fancy code reader to work by manual putting the car in. still can't pull codes, and they wont just gimme the toy to play with for a sec..

Re: Another 95 camaro that wont start!

might want to try in either the general F-body or the V6 forums

95s are not third generation camaros.
Best of luck

To scan an OBD-I PCM, with a 16-pin OBD-II style ALDL connector:

http://shbox.com/1/xraycable.jpg

You want 43.5psi at idle, with the vacuum compensation line off the fuel pressure regulator. GM says readings from 41-47psi are acceptable. Reconnect the vacuum line, and the pressure should drop proportional to intake manifold vacuum. A 6 - 8psi drop from the no-vacuum reading would be normal, unless there is a radical cam involved.

Fuel pressure will not vary with steady state RPM. But it should vary when you move the throttle, since the intake manifold vacuum will drop when you open the throttle, and rise when you close the throttle.

The key is - what is the pressure with the engine under load, at MAX RPM? It shouldn't drop below 40psi.

Re: Another 95 camaro that wont start!

ill have to grab an obd1 code reader as mine is the obd2 reader but wont read the 16 pin errors and all.

But just went out and sprayed some gas in intake to fire up car again.. put fuel pressure gauge on it and at max rpm, well just before gov kicks in (about 6k) its reading 26 psi.

Edit* there is no difference in fuel pressure reading with FPR Vacuum line on or off. Only Difference is motor doesn't run smooth unless vacuum leak is sealed with my thumb :P

Re: Another 95 camaro that wont start!

Just updating here went and grabbed the only OBD1 that autozone had that wasn't $200 Actron cp9001 ($30). Well it doesnt have the "M" as in the image on Shoutbox. has A&B Then one more on lower row!

I tried every combination i could think of before frustration set in to get the code reader to flash ses but ..it just stays on.
