Aftermarket Crankshaft??
Aftermarket Crankshaft??
Does anyone know of an aftermarket crankshaft for the 3800II (L36) in my 97 camaro?? I am looking at a rebuild and the only cranks I can find are the re-machined "factory" stroker ones.
Does anyone know of a billet or forged replacement with any of the following: lighter weight, stronger, better alloy??
Does anyone know if the cranks from the new 3800III (L32, L29) will fit in a RWD L36, and if so are they an upgrade??
Regards
Derek

Re: Aftermarket Crankshaft??
You can ship out a stock crank and get it cryo-treated. That makes it about 4 times stronger. A great company that does this is www.diversifiedcryogenics.com. They also freeze brake rotors, so they'll never warp. Its cheap too. Check it out, well worth it.
Re: Aftermarket Crankshaft??
So what you guys are telling me is there is no aftermarket cranks made for our cars. Does anyone know about Series III cranks: are they better and are they compatable with our Series II 3800.
Thanks guys aboout the cyro tip. I will definately look into it!!
