After a week of driving "slow" to get the best MPG I got....

20.5

The week before I drove how I wanted and got 24.6MPG!

I kept the RPM's under 3,000 even under acceleration for a week thinking I'd get 26 or maybe 28? nope! just lower! 20!

I dont think I laged the engine, but I'm kinda turned off now even more, I'm driving it how I want this week and seeing what I get.(no FT or flooring it or redline, just how I feel)

I just gased up again today and got 21.5, still not great, and this is mostly highway!

I dont feel as though I'm running on all 6 cylinders some times, it's still VERY strong as far as accleration and power, but sometimes when I'm crusing around I feel a buck or pop, I'm wondering if I should change my wires again. Would that maybe help?

Best I've ever gotten driving east was around 28mpg, almost all highway miles cruising at 2000 RPMs.

Normally though I'll get around 24 mpg driving normal and hitting stop-go/traffic.

I live in a very hilly area and sit in an hour of traffic to and an hour of traffic from work daily..... so maybe thats some of my problem.

I'm going to keep playing around, maybe I can tune it up.

yea, I used to get about 17 MPG in the city. Once on a trip, I had got 28 mpg. It was in my 97 3.8L A4. Well now I've got a 99 LS1 M6. I get better gas mileage in the LS1 than that damn 3.8. I'm really happy I saved up and bought a V8. I get 20 MPG in the city, never going over 45 mph, and sometimes using a heavy foot. I've got 29 on a trip going 75 most of the way.

traffic, hills and temperature will all effect your gas mileage.

I've heard that too, but I think the V6 is more economical in the city driving over the V8 though.

I wouldnt consider another f bod for a daily driver- a 02 SS M6 would be sweet! but not practical for my needs anymore really, I think I'd prefer a 04+ GTO, Mustang, or some practical car for a next ride.

I get about the same..never less than 26 or 27mpg. Last month I went to Myrtle Beach, SC, and also Wilmington, NC (I live in Charleston, WV). On the trip there and back, I got 36MPG. I was very pleased with that. And that's with my 96 3.8 5speed. And also on a failing coil pack. I wasn't home a day and it went out on me(this had been coming for about 5 months or so). Replaced all coils that day and it still runs like a dream!
