99' 3.8 wont start?

We're having an engine problem w/ a 3.8L camaro thats getting no spark.

What has been changed is the crank position sensor and the ignition module. Still no spark at the plugs?

Anyone ever had this problem or know what would cause this?

I don't remember if security cuts fuel or spark. Are you gettnig any codes? Security light flashing? I can't think of anything simple, other than that.

No oil pressure signal will cut fuel, so I don't think a bad oil pressure sending unit would be the problem.

Were there any symptoms before it quit working, or did it just suddenly stop?

The car wouldn't start one day and it gave a code for an intake manifold runner control (stuck open)?

My friend cleared the codes and it started. The next morning it did the same thing and would not start. Cleared the codes and it still wouldn't start.

We then found it was getting no spark.

The motor in this car has also been replace so do you think it could be in the wiring somewhere?

Thanks
Travis

I'm not familiar with that code... I can't even picture what an intake manifold runner control would be.... If he can get the code number again, that might help.

It might be something with the wiring. Maybe a loose connector. Or if they broke a wire somewhere. The code might help point you to the right component, and start working back from there.

well you know all the coils can't go bad at once. and since you have done the CPS and the module lets move on from there

1 check your PCM ign fuse and PCM batt fuse in the in car fuse box.

see if you have hot at the pink wire of the moduel with the key on. there should also be power on the white/black wire.

without an osciloscope it;s hard to find out if the waveforms for the crank and cam sensors are good so this isa little tough.

I would dare say it;s a fuse

I dont' have an answer to your issue. I just had the same thing, but it was corrsion in my icm.

One thing I do know is the security system will cut fuel to the injectors when it's not working right, not spark.

Good luck!
