96' V6 Revving Problem....!?

Hey everyone. I have a rather weird problem with my 96 camaro. When I'm revving it up, it seems to have periodic revving, as if i was stomping on the pedal and letting go, stomping and letting go. However, my foot is on the pedal the whole time, the car does not fully 'rev' up in the traditional 'bad-***' sense of that term..The car drives perfectly and is in working order, what gives?

Do you mean like surging? Or hesitation? I guess you mean hesitation. My car was doing that crap a couple weeks ago (96 Firebird A4) and it turned out to be dirty injectors and throttlebody for me. I got them cleaned at the dealership and now it's working much better.

v6 camaro's come stock with a rev limiter that when in park allows you to rev it up to only 4000 rpm. then it starts surging. does this in neutral when at stand still as well. the car will rev all the way to redline when you are moving. so hope this helps

I meant surging, sorry. I'm basically just learning about cars, so I have a hard time explaining things.

But actually, I DO notice hesitation in acceleration. I had to replace a mass airflow sensor, and it still has a little hesitation in it's acceleration at times..

I'd check the O2 sensor like mentioned above, First i would check plugs and wires, and replace the commonly overlooked fuel filter.
