94 camaro 3.4 to 4.3 swap
i have a 96 s10 with a vortec 4.3 and a 94 camaro with a 3.4. does anyone know if there is alot of extra work involved in putting the 4.3 in the camaro and putting the 3.4 in the s10. i want to pull motor and tranny together and just swap them. Is the harnesses inside the vehicle's the same ,will i have to just swap the harnesses under the hood and the computer, or will i have to swap everything. the 4.3 has 200hp and like 250 torque stock, so i want to stay with a v6 and build it so i can run with the z28's around here. ive seen guys build 4.3's to have ALOT of power but never in any camaros. first i want to get the 3.4 in the s10 so i can drive it , and take my time building the 4.3. can anyone help me or point me in the right direction? I havnt found anything on the web about this swap.
Re: 94 camaro 3.4 to 4.3 swap
youre better off finding a 3.8 and building/swapping it in. swapping a 4.3 isnt easy and definately not cheap. in all honesty if youre going to go through all that trouble to try and swap a 4.3 you could just drop an lt1 for damn near half the cost and call it a day.
the reason you havent found any info on a 4.3 swap is because its not worth the cost.
my opinion.. find a 3.8/pcm/harness etc-rebuild it with a nice set of heads(ssm or abbot heads) and a cam (gt2) upgrade to lsd and a set of 3.73s and get it tuned and run mid/low 14s.

Re: 94 camaro 3.4 to 4.3 swap
You won't build a 4.3L to run with z28s.
The 4.3L has balance shafts and also no 90 degree v6 will rev that smoothly, even with the balance shafts eliminated....
I wouldn't even go with a 3.8L in a 94 Camaro....
If you just have to have a "smaller" engine that runs, grab a 4.3L Baby LT1 v8 from a Caprice clone....it might even be a slightly better fit than the big LT1.
A 3.4L in an s-10 in 96 is probably not emissions legal...
Neither vehicle's harnesses match up. All splicing on your own.
Of course, I'm not a huge v6 fan anyway, so this advice wasn't hard to give, mind you.

[QUOTE=AlfredB18]You won't build a 4.3L to run with z28s.
i know a couple of guys who have built 4.3's to run 12's, one of them was in a van!! i know i could make a 4.3 run with a z. i just need to get it in the car first. if im gonna have to screw with the harnesses then im not gonna mess with it, i dont have that much time on my hands. the 4.3 in the s10 now is a runner, at first i wanted to just build it and keep it in there but i cant get the tires to hook up the way it is now. plus i dont need any more power coming out of a bagged & bodydropped truck.
