94, 3.4 head torque
94, 3.4 head torque
hey guys........
i have to replace the head gaskets on my sons 94 camaro convert., i'm having trouble getting the head bolt torque's, i'm pretty sure it has the stretch type bolts. i've seen a couple of differant torque settings and don't know which ones are correct, also i have been told two differant ways to do the valve lash, one was the old fashioned way of taking the slack out of the push rods and going 3/4 of a turn, with the valves in the correct position of course, and the other was torquing the valves to 18 ft lbs? it has an " S " motor......
thanks in advance........i'm sure somebody out there has the right motors manual....

For a (all) 3.4L's, the torque specifications for the cylinder heads is:
step 1, 40 ft.lb.
step 2, 90 degree CW turn
To set the valve lash do it the old way (the 3/4 turn way). The only reference to the torquing the rocker bolts to 18 ft.lb. is for 4 cylinder camaros with 2.5L's.
