Is it stumbling or anything? My car car idles at 700-800 and it is running fine. My 93 used to idle at about 1100-1300 and that was cause it had a couple of problems. Did you add or remove anything before you experienced this?

my 2.8 with 100,000 kilometers, (70,000 miles) idles at 600-700 rpm after its warmed up if its cold it starts at 1,100 then drops.

it runs fine.
it shouldnt stumble at this rpm range, you may want to do a tuneup

On my 92' I had a long time ago, it idled around 700 - 800. I think thats pretty much normal for most cars. However my 94' is having some problems with its idle

Lightbulb

Chilton's manual says
'' 1988, 2.8L, ignition timeing 10* before TDC, 700rpm idel for auto and std. trans."
Thats for when it's all the way warmed up.
So your idel is high.

I had a 91 RS 3.1 several years ago, but if I remember correctly it idled at 700-800 RPM. So no need to worry.
