4SA Transmission Question

Okay, I have the '98 3800 with the 4 speed auto transmission. I'm just curious on why the hell it shifts 4 times lol. Here are its shifts (in MPH)...
  • Around 10-15
  • Around 25-35
  • At 45
  • Around 65-75

What's up with this?

Re: 4SA Transmission Question

Around 10-15 = shifting into 2nd
Around 25-35 = shifting into 3rd
At 45 = shifting into 4th
Around 65-75 = torque converter locking up in 4th must me accelatering kinda hard (mine will lock up at 40-45mph if im cruising at that speed)

Overdrive = 4th gear.

The 4th "shift" is the torque converter locking up.
