Re: 3.4l upgrades

There's parts all over. Check the Supporting Vendor Index. Summit, Jegs, Year One, etc.
Myself, all I've done is a Cold Air Intake. Getting ready to install bigger injectors this week hopefully.
Good luck with your search.

got a cold air intake from slponline.com and got a flowmaster exhaust on mine. If you plan on racing this things put a v-8 in it. Im planning to put a ls1 in mine coming this spring.

Re: 3.4l upgrades

not really an aftermarket for the 3.4L V6. you have to look in odd places to find stuff. RKSport has a lot for the 3.4 in terms of aftermarket, and yes thats a lot (cause you will go there and see the limited amount of stuff they have and ask "thats a lot?").

anyway. the best bang for the buck i have found are:
1. CAI
2. EXHAUST
3. ALUMINUM HEAD SWAP (not cheap)
4. CAM

i have done all that and i am currently in the 200+ (engine hp) range on my 3.4L. have to have it tuned yes, and thats another hurdle...but it runs really nice and sounds nicer. i'll be posting a sound clip of my 3.4L v6 soon...

dont give up. look for my article in this forum about the aluminum heads.

Re: 3.4l upgrades

If you are willing to spend the money, I'd recommend a port/polish on the heads, intake, and exhaust manis.

I did look into the head swap (too much cosmetic work involved), then thought about doing a whole FWD 3.4L engine swap, but since that engine is a bit taller and doesn't leave much room at all under the cowl...I think I'm settling for a P/P job before I get my 3.4L put back together.

But, definitely opening up the ports comes first, even before a CAI, muffler, bigger pipes, blah, blah, blah, that are lesser weak points on the 3.4L engine.

Re: 3.4l upgrades

too much cosmetic work? LMFAO. that is the weakest excuse....

but whatever man. my 3.4 will run circles around your ported-polished 3.4 anyday.

honestly porting the iron heads is a lesson in futility. it sucks. you are wasting money porting the iron heads. if you are gonna sink that much into the engine swap the heads for the aluminum ones. if you dont understand why, read my post on the 3.4L engine..its in this forum.

-R

edit: oh yea - and when you port and polish the crap outta the iron heads, dont expect to go much faster. your engine only flows as well sa the biggest bottleneck. which after you spend all that $$ on porting and polishing, wont amount to much of a gain cause you didnt prep right and get bigger pipes + better intake.

but you go right ahead and throw your money away. im not one to push people into doing things if they are stubborn and stupid.

Re: 3.4l upgrades

I next day shipped me a flowmaster catback and I'm going to opt for the K&N filter. I hope that'll open her up a little bit. I'm not big on cars but I got a Chilton's and a buddy whose done exhaust work and I really enjoy the satisfaction of working on something myself. How hard are the other engine mods to do? Do I need to take a lot of parts off the engine to swap the new parts in?
