3.4 V6 Tranny Problem 4l60e

I have a 94 camaro that the tranny went out in. I swapped the tranny out of my parts car, also a 94 v6, same tranny, the 4l60e. The swapped went good but my tranny was in limp mode. Turns out the plug was just loose. Pushed it in and everything worked good for about a week or so then nothing. Wouldn't shift on its own and was in limp mode again. I had a tranny guy look at it, he swapped in a new pressure manifold (i believe), and checked all of the solenoids, checked for codes, check everything on the electrical end. He said it all checks out. The problem is, It still won't shift on its own. I have to manually shift it, and i don't have 1st gear. I do have 2nd, 3rd, and OD. Cruise works, vss sensor is ok, it doesn't flash codes. Idk what to do now? any help?

sorry if this is hard to read. typing in a hurry. any help greatly appreciated.

Cool Tranny ?

What happened to the Powerglide / TH350 days?

Not to hijack your thread, but my question is similar.

I have a 1995 V6 3.4 with 4L60E without reverse. Since a rebuild is costly, I aquired a 4L60E from a 1999 V8 Suburban 1/2 ton. Can I swap modules and sensors from the '95 to the '99 trans? Any help appreciated!

Shift A solenoid. Even if it tests good. OR problem in the computer or wiring between it and the trans. Pull ALL of your solenoids from the junk transmission and swap them one at a time into your "good" trans. IF that doesnt cure it, try to find a computer to swap and test. If that doesnt work, your "new" trans is probably shot. You said wiring to trans tested good. Had a similar problem on a 99 silverado. It finally threw a code, changed the one sensor it said was out. Tested the rest, all tested perfect. Put it back together, drove it, same problems, CEL came back on, different solenoid. Dropped pan again, changed the rest of the solenoids out of a blown trans and it has been about 10K miles now.

Are you sure you have overdrive and its not just locking the torque converter, appearing to have shifted into overdrive? Either way is possible, but usually when sol. A goes out, it takes 1st and 4th with it.

l8p, you might want to make your own thread, but there is a lot more involved between the two trans you have. Internals have some differences that will not allow the changes. The 95 has a different way of activating lock up and will not work in a 99 trans for one. Im not an expert on transmissions, but I do know a 95 has to be replaced with a 95 because there are so many differences. Main difference actually, is the bell housing. The 3.4 is a 60 Degree, whereas the V8 trans is a 90 Degree. Will not even come close to bolting up. You COULD however have the hard parts from the newer trans swapped into the 95, most of the internal hard parts will swap in.
