I have a friend w/ a 93 3.1L Lumina that is having ignition troubles. I went and looked at it, and I heard the fuel pump prime so I ruled that out. I also disconnected a plug boot from the coil and tried to get it to arc, but nothing happened when cranking it. The car just died on her one night while driving and her mom managed to get it to start the other day for only a minute. What could possibly be wrong? She never complained of hesitation or stuttering, the car just all of a sudden quit. Any help would be much appreciated.

 

check all the plugs for spark
wait till night spray the plug wires with some water and crank see if you can see any sparks jump

if there is no spark at all then check the coils
