2000 3.8L V6 wont start
2000 3.8L V6 wont start
Last week I tried to start my wife's 2000 V6 Camaro and it would not start. The car has 49,xxx on the clock and we only drive it once a month I normally take it out for a 30 minute drive each month to keep it going.
Anyway I turn the key I have good voltage I try to start it and it just cranks a but would not fire up. I have approx 1/4 tank of fuel we checked all of the fuses and relays. My buddy went under the car and had me try to start it he did not here the fuel pump kick in. So I ordered a new pump it arrived today we went to install it had everything in went to turn the key and again the same problem you will here it crank but it will not turn over. We did not here the fuel pump wine we checked the plugs put them back in still no good. We pulled the plugs out from the fuel pump tested them to see if we get any lights but no lights on the plugs.
Here is where we are at
1. New Fuel pump
2. Plenty of volts on the battery
3. Car will crank but not fire up
4. We do not here the new fuel pump when we turn the key on
5. we pulled the plugs out from the fuel pump used a test light and nothing lights up.
6. We tested all of the fuses and relays under the hood all are hot.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Sean

ok did u hav some one under the car with a test light as u turned the key to the on position because u wont get anything if u just have the key in and then wait over about 2 sec then the pump turns off so hav someone testing as u turn the key on and off u should get a light but a better way to see if it is working is the cap on the fuel rail take it off and then press in the little valve it looks like a tire air valve so u can use a small flat head screw driver to depress it and u should see fuel come out then u know ur fuel pump is working. hope this helps
