2 problems:
I had a little smoke coming out of my exhaust (only sometimes) and my Oil dipstick level was high, so I thought I was leaking coolant into the oil.
So I changed my lower and upper intake gaskets. I put in a new thermo, I put in a new waterpump. I start it up like 10 times and never any smoke out of the exhaust! Then the next time I start it it smokes for about a minute. What the crap? Maybe I have a cracked block, or a bad head gasket. I've done a compression test, but that wont really tell you much about a H/G.
2nd prob: I have had a general p0300 misfire. I just put in new sparks, new plugs, new coils, new ICM!!! It is STILL giving me a general misfire!!!
So I'm thinking its a clogged bad injector!
GRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Please help!!! Thanks!!

Re: 2 problems:
What does the visual appearance of the oil look like, is it milky in color? If so, then yes you may have coolant leaking in your oil. As for the misfire, it seems you covered everything but the fuel injection system. A clogged injector(s) will cause a misfire code to appear. You could start by having the injectors flushed. If that doesn't do the trick, then you will need to hunt down which cylinder is causing the problem and go from there.
Re: 2 problems:
its giving me the code p0300 "GENERAL MISFIRE"
I dont really know how to hunt down the misfire...
I mix like 70% water and 30% coolant in my radiator so its
kinda hard to tell if there actually is coolant in the oil!
If I did have coolant in the oil would it burn white or grey?
I think white
So what is grey exhaust smoke an indication of???
thanx

Re: 2 problems:
it has been smoking out of the exhaust still
but then it stops
I wonder if radiator crack filler solution could fix my problem
Is there anyone around that can test your oil to see what all it
has in it?
Anyone know if that "Engine Restore" silver can gimmick is worth
buying? It says it can restore compression, etc etc
I have it in my oil now, but cant feel a difference yet

Re: 2 problems:
Dude, Listen to the posts about the color of the oil. if theres coolant in your crankcase, YOU'D KNOW IT. you'd look at the oil and probably think you engine threw-up : http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1326520
Of course this is an EXTREME case... i'd hate to be that guy...

Re: 2 problems:
oh, and BTW, if there was coolant in the oil, its possible for it to not show up in visible color. I look at those OIL ANALYSIS sheets that show low figures like: .03 % ethlyene glycol (coolant) in their oil, and that a major problem will happen in the future.
proof positive
Can you get that link for me, I would love to see it, thanks

Re: 2 problems:
I saw an episode of Mythbusters where they tested the one about cracking an egg into the radiator to fix a radiator leak.... it worked REALLY well actually! you could always try that!
Re: 2 problems:
All man, please don't try that. that was a simple fix to get you to a repair shop if your stranded not a permant fix. I also whatch that show. My favorite episode is where they try different chemicals and household products to break that engine and all. Moathballs where the greatest effect. Anyway if your exhaust smokes just a little after start up then it could be you have some bad valve seals. They will allow some oil to get into the intake and burn, then when the engine runs for awhile they quite leaking and everything runs fine.
Re: 2 problems:
hey GHOSTz28!
That is exactly how my oil looked before I changed my intake gaskets!!!!!!
Now it looks like regular oil, but I still worry! I'm going to pick the car up
from the shop today and theyre gonna probably tell me I have a blown H/G!
it looked like yogurt or a thick milkshake
I think I will go mix my oil and coolant (in a cup) and see what it does as a test

Re: 2 problems:
I was kidding about the egg thing... LOL but ya it might take alot of vigorous shaking. put it in a 20oz. bottle with different amounts of coolant, then shake the hell out of it. add a little more, shake, add a little more ect.. then you'll have a better idea of the ratio of coolant to oil that it takes to REALLY mess stuff up. (i'm talking about adding just drops of coolant at a time, maybe 5 drops or so each experiment)
Re: 2 problems:
yea, my old oil looked like yogurt
now my new oil has already turned to yogurt again
the mechanic told me my crankcase tested positive for carbon monoxide = coolant in oil
