2.8 power?

i've been over at the 3gc.net boards. They are great help over there. I was wondering if there are any more mods i can do to boost my HP/TQ in my 88 2.8.

So far i have:

8mm wires
over gapped spark plugs to 60 (2 steps colder)
gutted my cat (improved gas milage by 100%)
by passed TB preheat (for colder air)
pretty much removed my air box, all open
K&N filters
Magnaflow muffler (dunno if its a perf mod)
advanced timing to 14 degrees
New 700R4
lowering springs in front (1 3/4 drop)
No smog pump
Removed AC and misc. pulley

Hmm.. all i can think of right now. BTW: my car is NOT by any means legal in california. Thats why i have it regged in AZ

My future plans are

New chip - Fastchip.com
Port my heads (or find new heads, need valve job anyways)
headers (if i can find any)
rebuild engine (or replace with 3.4) <- expensive so not in near future.
Cam
Turbo/Supercharger/Blower (if i can freakin find one!)

Thats it for now. Any help?

I have an 88' engine in my 85' camaro.
First engine a piston was coming apart and the 88' engine spun a bearing.
You do not want to try and put to much power on those stock pistons they will crumble I have done it twice now my 85' sits engine less and I don't know if I can get it fixed.
I ported the exhaust manifolds when I had the engine out, and I cleaned out tons of soot from the plentum from the EGR. I also de smog pumped it.
I would pull that POS 2.8 and at least put some forged pistons in, you can get a set for around $340 and you would not be able to beat that engine to death. And a 280' grind cam would be nice.
Those engines came from the factory with a forged crank and rods and cheap as hell 5 cent cast pistons.

Cool

The link should be http://www.geocities.com/overlift

I'm currently working on a turbo project 2.8 on my wifes 88 camaro. The stock bottom end is a hunk of crap. I wouldn't do too much to it, or your just gonna destroy it. We are already swapping the engines out, and going forged with the one thats blown up and turboing it.

I would just do a simple port/ polish to it and throw in a cam or something. There isn't too much that I would be comfortable with doing. I just recently did her throttle body port and polish. If your interested in having one done, let me know, i've got a couple laying around.

You listed a K&N filter, but not a complete cold air intake. From what I've been told, just having filters doesn't do anything.

I would reccommend getting that. When I put my Moroso intake on, I felt a big difference. Sorry, I don't know of any 3rd gen V6 CAIs.

Well, K&N filters DO make a difference. I have ram air, so they made a BIG improvment. I dont see any difference in the cold air kits from what i have.

With simple mods I ran 16.01, and now my buddy with his 96 3.8 just ran 16.1 so the 2.8 is not a dog....

If I was able to put my headers on and go back out after the double roller timming chain I bet I would have ran 15.5...

Do a 3.4L swap.

Easy, and the car feels much much better. Still slow mind you, but it is much better.

interested in more.. do a search on thirdgen.org in the V6 section. Plenty of stuff on it.
