1999 3.8L governor limited?

Is the 3.8L V6 governor limited?

I was racing someone the other day and was accelerating strongly all the way to 120mph. Then i felt the engine bog down and acceleration would not go any higher.

I was accelerating up to 120 mph with 3/4 throttle. I got to 120 then had to go full throttle and i couldn't get any more out of the engine.

Anyone know anything about this?

Yes its limited and I believe its actually 119mph. No way around it without deleteing it with Hypercrap or a tune.

And this is LS1 related how?

As an aside note, they're governed to keep dumb a$$es from exceeding the speed rating of their tires.

Even with it not governed i can't imagine you going too much faster with a v-6 anyways.

Mine has quite a bit of kick left once I've buried the speedo, but then again I'm not your average v6 camaro.

Jet makes a plug in to our trannys. Its called the SC 2000 or something like that. Its easy to plug in. You adjust it for your gear changes and tire/rims changes to correct your speedometer and ontop of that it removes the top speed limiter...off ebay its like 120 brand new and shipped buy it now. Easy to do
