Stick with the supercharger for now. Seems to be the only proven route to go and it's a LOT neater than some of the fly by night kits that are near impossible to install.

I'd STRONGLY suggest looking into this:

I dunno, I suggest you check their site. The pics of the turboed cars look like there's nothing but spaghetti in the engine compartment. They have to be among the worse wiring mess that I have ever seen. I think most people give up on the installation (and sell them) because of that. The supercharger is straightforward, clean, beautiful-looking and proven. You can install the entire kit in 4-5 hours.

Re: 1997 v6 supercharger or turbo??

That turbo company is pretty popular in the 3800 supercharged series motors, but as you noticed they are limited to only the front wheel drive applications. It will be interesting to see what their turbo will look like and produce for the 3800 motor in the Camaro/Firebird. If this is an impulse purchase, then I would just go with the tried and proven supercharger. Otherwise, wait around for the turbo to be released but who knows how long it will take when it says "coming soon." Perfect example, Edelbrock, who has been promising us LTx guys an aftermarket intake manifold for how many years now??

Honestly, I don't see any of the big companies taking the initiative to build a turbo or supercharger for the rwd 3.8's. They haven't before and they won't now that the fbody is discontinued. There are very few options unless you fab your own up.

From what I hear, if you have a 3.8 and want a supercharger, go with the Powerdyne; if you want a turbo, go with the FFF. Those two are the most proven blowers on the 3.8 F-Body applications..
