Hiya Everyone,

I'm having a problem with my 01 Camaro (about 90K miles on it).

I get in the car and turn the key and nothing happens. There is a little click noise but thats it. Everything powers up (AC, radio, subs, lights, etc). I have to sit there and turn my key about 30-40 times till it finally starts. Sometimes it will start on the first try, but most of the time it won't (always seems to happen when I'm in a hurry).

I'm at a loss at what to do. Battery is fine (its new and checked) and I've replaced the battery cables (slightly corroded).

Anyone have any ideas on whats going on/how to check for problems. I ordered a OBII cable and software online and it will be here by Friday but is there anything I can do before. I've been having this problem for 7 months and no one knows what's wrong.

Dont really know how to check or fix it. I got it done at Pontiac for $320

 

Think it could be the VATS or Passkey or whatever system?

I originally thought of that too, went down to Pontiac and they tested the key. It was reading fine..

 

i have the same stupid problem, i already replaced the starter, cables and i dont know what to do now. it would not be the key because i can start the vehicle by having someone push and start on 2nd gear. please help!

Have you checked or replaced the starter????? Ive read everything else you checked, but nothing about changing the starter.....

 

Yup.

Starter was the first thing checked.

If the starter and solenoid are fine, then I would def. say it was the ignition cylinder. The one on my Lumina is starting to die as well.
