Z28 Vs. Vette

Ok I just got home and on the way home i was on the on ramp to get on the highway, I was taking the curves pretty fast, but since no one else was around I saw no reason not too. Anyways there was a Corvette behind me keeping up with me, I look back right as im about to get on and theres nothing in front of us, I look to my friend and say looks like he wants to race.. I yells to me DOWNSHIFT! As soon as i do it he floors it too, I shut down at about 115 and surprisingly he only had about 1/2 a car on me??? I'm kinda shocked about this... But still it was fun!

So it was an LT1 vette not an LS1. What mods do you have?

Vette should have pulled a little more I'd say...depending if its auto or 6 spd, the vert made it heavier.

If the Vette was mostly stock, then that sounds reasonable.

If it was a c4 its understandable they dont really pack that much more power then a LT1 Fbody

I am a past owner of a '97 Z28 6spd car. I have seen in recent "vette" threads about C4's you all are forgetting that a '96 LT4 Vette is a C4 and having driven both (see sig) I am telling you that an LT4 vette would completely waste a mostly stock LT1 f-body... especially from a roll like the race above. Now I don't particularly like the C4 style Vette (although I do like our Grand Sport), but some of you after reading some of these threads are gonna be awfully disappointed if you ever come across a LT4 Vette. Ours runs the 1/4 at 13.1@109. Now it may be a bit of a factory freak in the fact that it dynoed 317rwhp stock. Take that with a weight of a little more than 3100-3200lbs and your gonna have a quick car. Don't count out all C4's

I was also going to say there is an 87 L98 Vette running very low 13's@103 with mostly stock all free mods. K&N filter, open air box, MAF descreened, TB Bypassed, 160* T-Stat, Accel Super Coil, 12* degree advance timing, front Y pipe, hi-flowcat, hayden tranny cooler, and No Mufflers and with a 2.59 rear gear. He now added some long tubes and is having trouble hooking up so he is running only about 1 tenth faster 13.1@106, but he gained some mph from it. So you never know what you will run into to.
