Eclipse.... sigh

I know this was an unfair kill.... but i couldnt help myself.

Alright, i had just gotten off work, and decided i would wash/wax today, so i go to AutoZone and get my stuff. While inside i kept hearing the funniest sound me, and probably everyone here has heard, the 6" tip ricer. We all can recognize that stupid exhaust sound a mile away. So as im walkin outside i see the culprit, a ~2000 eclipse going to my left. I laugh and think to myself, "i wish i was beside that ricer right now" but oh well. So i get in my car, and as im pulling out the same car is goin back to my right, i see him pull up beside a civic and floor it just to show off, so i see this as my opportunity; I shoot out of the parking lot and catch up to this car in like 5 seconds. I pull around the civic and stop beside the eclipse at a light, he looks over... I say to him "you gonna shoot around me now?" he says "what u got, a 4 cylinder?" i said, "you ever seen a 4 cylinder SS?" he says back "hahaha you must have a 6 cylinder, bring it punk."

*light turns green*

we both take off..... well i took off, it looked to me like he barely hit the gas, but thats all that eclipse was worth. I know it was unfair, but it was so fun to put that ricer in its place.

I don't understand how anyone who likes cars, especially ricers, think there is no such thing as a V8 these days. Its like they all think their turbo'd 4 cyl are godlike machines. I've ran into SO MANY ricers that ask me whats under the hood and i tell them a 5.7 liter LT1 V8... and they're like "oh, so you swapped the motor." and i'm like " wtf is the matter with you."

I want to take away all their opinion making priviledges.

Kids at my school are the same way. They think thier cars are so fast but they are really like 16 second cars and then they have enough nerve to say my car is slow. I have the fastest car in school and haven't been even close to beaten by anybody at my school. When I first got my car some kid who thinks he's Mr. Gearhead actually argued with me when I said my car had a 350. He kept saying that I had a 305.

I know the feeling. It's probably due to the fact that most of the cars that they would refer to as "sporty" have 4 cylinders, and the GT models either have turbo 4s or NA 6s for the most part.

Hasn't anyone noticed the V6 badging on cars lately? It's like wow, they advertise that?

You tell them you've got a V8 and they're like, "No way, man. Those only come in trucks."

For me what pisses me off is the fact that a culture can be SO into racing and speed, yet be completely oblivious to the real musclecars to date. Camaros, Mustangs, Vipers, Corvettes... Old school muscle like 1st-2nd Gens, Novas, Malibu's, Chevelle's, Chargers, Challangers, Cudas, Roadrunners etc.. I mean there are so many that would just woop the crap out of these cars but they just don't know about it. I got into racing for the speed, i like going fast... but damn... an entire culture based around going fast, and not having a clue about some of the fastest cars on the street is just mind boggling...

Yes, i know i left out a hell of a lot of muscle cars so don't try and bust my chops and tell me that I don't know about them either, just in case anyone was going to lol.
