Who would win, my Z or a YZF 600?

I've been thinkin about buying a bike recently and looked at some young punks bike the other day and got some information on it. It was a 04 Yamaha YZF 600, he had an aftermarket pipe and jet kit on it and he said that it came stock with about 97 hp.(so he said) i don't know much about the sportbike industry so i was taking his word for it.
He was all " I'll race ya fer pink slips, hur hur.." but i didn't say anything trying to be respectful and mature. I did tell him about what hp my car was around and a few mods i'd did. He doesn't seem to know much about cars, and wanted to know if i was hidin NAWWSS...
My car has about 407rwhp 403rwtq and i'm not a bad driver, so if i were to race this guy one day, how would i do? lets say from both a stop and a 20mph kick?

I f he can ride even remotely good, he'll eat you up. That bike the guy has is one of the "littler" bikes that are available out there, but it should be good for at least low 11s/high 10s @ around 125ish.

I don't know what your car runs, but your best chance would be from a dig. I mean, if you've got a 11.5 car or thereabouts, and you were on an ET street or something, you might stand a chance in a marked off 1320. Any farther than that and he'll come by you for sure. I wouldn't waste my time with a run from a roll unless you just want to see how bad it would be for you.

He probably got the YZF600R which is NOT the R6. The yzf600R is a step down. That sounds about right with 97 hp. The newer 600's are rated 120 hp at the crank and capable of running mid 10's. Judging by how this kid talks/acts run him from a dig. I bet he doesnt have the skills to ride the bike to its potential. If you go from a roll your going to get killed easy since all he has to do is romp the throttle.

A roll from high speed you could win over the 600 b/c they start to lean out way up at high speed. I went from a R6 to a CBR 954 I know what I'm talking about. I saw my buddies old 98 CBR 600 get spanked at high speed by a 02 SS last year. My 954 yanked away from the SS like a bad movie though.

No it's not. You ever seen an avg. riders 60ft on a stock bike?? If the guy with the Camaro cuts, lets say 1.58-1.63 at the track, and he can get it to hook on the street, and go to the juice fairly soon in first, he should be able to get out a decent amount. It's believable (to me) that if he got out far enough from the start, that he might be able to fight him off JUST through a marked off 1/4.

I don't know what it is with all these F-body guys talking about running from a roll?? 99% of Camaros/TAs are set up for dragracing.

I've got a guy locally with a '00 SS A4. he runs pretty consistant 11.5s NA and is always telling me how he runs away from bikes on the interstate, from like a 60-140+mph roll. He's got nothing but a cam and bolt-ons, A LOT of susp. work, and very steep gears, and a 4,5k+ converter. His car is TOTALLY set up for dragracing. He cuts low 1.5 60s and traps 120ish, so from a DIG, I could concieve that he might be able to take a smaller bike, but from a roll??? Hell no!!

Most people don't understand how much power it takes to overcome a bike from a roll. Someone needs to post that 800+wrhp Viper running those Busa's...

I just love reading these stories of cars beating bikes that are in a whole different realm of performance...

This is typical mentallity here...my car runs 115 mph...but from a roll I can pull down a bike running 125 mph...let's say the bike tops out at 170 mph, but your car can pull up to 175 mph...I bet when the bike hits 170 mph, your going maybe 155 mph...so what is the guy supposed to do, sit there at 170 and just wait for you to slowly pass him?

I only know of a few cars locally that can keep up/beat bikes from a roll...the slowest is a high ten @ 130 mph street car.

My friend has a 97 YZF 600R(pipe) and a 96 TA(stock). We have messed around a few times w/ him on the bike and me in his car. If I get a good 2 car jump from a 35ish roll we stay close to each other(with in a few car lenghts). If his TA had 400 hp and we ran straight up...it would be alot closer w/ him shooting ahead and then me trying to catch up. If you are gona race bikes just hope its some squid that doesnt know how to ride. Dont expect to beat a good rider. Even a 250cc bike can cut a mid 3 second 0-60.

None of the newer bikes are gonna get beat by cars. The 600's have as much power as the big bore bikes of just a few years ago. Unless your pushing 1000 horses I don't see it as possible. And you could always mod your bike.

ok first of all, your not going to win from a roll just forget it. You might have a chance in the 1/8 if he can't ride and you hook good. That is maybe, very doubtfully. The yzf 600r are no joke at all. I think the are around 95-105 hp. Did you guys not see the vid of the 547 RWHP cobra getting killed by the stock cbr 600 F4i from a DIG???? I mean come on, racing cars is one thing, but racing sport bikes, you will get your feelings hurt.

I have to agree here... I know I could launch a motorcycle faster than my car.
