Ahhh, the age old question- Who would win?

Well stock auto vert GTs 99+, are solid 14.9-15.0 cars with realworld drivers, BUT with his "chip" that adds 100+hp, you might want to be careful. He might have the special option powerstroke GT.

Also, watch for any added stickers he might have added since you first negotiated the run....

Tell him I'll race him with a 4dr family car. Give the old Alty the pop and we can sit door to door!

Sounds a little optimistic for an auto vert gt don't ya think? Considering that Steve Y is running 14.0 with a 5 speed hardtop with a 2.2 60'.

Yup, and his is slightly modded.

I used to play baseball back in HS. I bet I could throw a fastball down the 1/4 before a auto GT vert would get to the end...

All assuming of course that the temp., humidity, alt., and my 60ft were good enough....

no its not optimistic,Auto GT's trap around 96-97MPH with a 2.2 60' that WOULD land them in the 14.3-14.4 range.Steve spun hard shifting into 2nd so its concievable that he lost a tenth cuz of that,he should be around 13.9ish with a 2.2 60'. also a GT auto vert should be good for at LEAST a 14.7 which would mean you had a WEAK *** fastball.

MMFF got a 14.09 at 96.6 out of a heavy (all options except vert.) auto hardtop GT. Bone stock hardtop 5-speed GTs have gone 13.6x at 101.

I babied 2nd gear to avoid big time wheelspin on that 14.0 run, and did not powershift 3rd. The track was prepped like sh** that day and it was only about 45 degrees out in the morning. The track was in the shade and cold. Good traps, though . My mods are worth about 10-15 rwhp and I had about 140 lbs. of weight reduction on that run.

The bottom line is your average automatic GT is going to run something more like 14.4-14.6 @ 95-97mph

Throw a convertor, nittos and 3.73's in it
I have seen some that wont even run that . Auto conv. run low 15's on average . I have seen dozens run , You should have no problem beating one . I dont see many GT convert's running 14.5's at all .
Just go beat him and get it over with .

What did you take out for that much weight reduction?

That sounds about right, more like high 8's, low 9's depending on launch

Gas is 6 lbs. per gallon. I had the tank at 1/8th. That is about 70 lbs. Spare tire, jack, lug wrench, pad, etc. in trunk is about 35 lbs. Passenger seat is about 35 lbs. I could have taken out the lower back seat easy but didn't know how at the time, 13 lbs. The upper back seats are a pain in the *** to take out and probably only weigh 10 lbs. total. The gas, spare, etc. and seats are easy and great to take out for the drags. Also, never run a close race with a passenger in the car with you.

Well since you've decided to make fun of my baseball skills, here goes...

Even if we went by YOUR post, you said a HT COULD/SHOULD run a 14.3-.4. Now throw in the VERT and it's more like 14.7+, and that's by YOUR quote. I personally haven't seen any stock vert autos out of the 15s, but that's just ME.

NOW, take a look at the sig (mine), the muscle car convertable would likely get taken out by a FOUR DOOR FAMILY CAR

Sorry but I had to since he insulted my baseball ability
