Unhappy STi VS 94' LT1

Ah, God it was a sorry night, my friend set up a race with a 03 WRX STi tonight, we ran it from a 10mph Roll, as i nailed it in first i started spinning the tires, 1st to 2nd shift car kinda fish tails and almost nails him, 2nd to 3rd **** is where i totally FUDGE up, it keeping revving and all you hear was the rev limiter kicking in, i managed to throw it back into third and that's where he regained the 1/2 car i put on him and put about another car on me, he kept the distance all the way till about the end of 4th gear where i was slowly gaining back the distance, we go back to the spot and he's rubbing it in and what not and says "Now i want to run your boys SS ", loll man i felt so horrible because i felt really confident that i was going to at least pull on him, as far as his mods, all i heard was a BOV, he said the rest was stock........was pretty cocky for a STi owner, oh well .......time to get a real STS and not some B/s short stick and time to get those damn headers on.......thanks for reading.......had to vent

Do you know anything about STI's...There pretty damn potent, w/ your mods there was no way you were gonna pull on him, Id imagine he'd beat you worse thenhe did..especially w/ your bad start...I just saw one tested on Tv...ran a 13.1 stock...so w/ the bov and a good run hes probably seeing 12's.

BOV's dont really do anything for the STi except make noise...

The they do get massive gains from boost control and a turbo back exhaust.

With this setup they run mid 12's all day many clicking off sub 1.7 60 ft's...

Even stock the torque band on this car is incredible for a 2.5 litre engine. From <3500 rpms to redline you get 300 lb/ft of torque there is no torque curve once the turbo kicks in it is more like a torque plateau.

Yes, I do know a good amount about them, from a roll they're not that bad to overcome. Well, it is good that I hung only half car away, damn newer 4banger turbo's are giving us damn good competition, Oh well ... time to stick the juice back in... thanks for reading.

from a 10 roll taking away his AWD luanch u should be right with him, AWD is the only reason that car does low 13's if u did a easy luanch the times might be as high as a 14

I don't think a stock LT1 is going to take an STI even from a roll. They have a higher redline to carry out the torque further and weigh less.

They trap very low 13's, even in the 12's sometimes, so even taking away the 1.8-1.9 60' time they get, they would still get mid - high 13's. Still faster than a stock LT1.

They also trap higher speeds, which also shows they are a little faster from a roll.

I still wouldn't buy one. F-body for me, all the way.

They won't totally walk an LT1, but they should pull slowly.

what are u talkin about, the car has 300 hp, what u just said is the same as saying a LS1 runs low 13's cause it has a 350..a sti will pull a fairly stock LT1 from a roll..run what ya brung..and a sti brings 300 hp plus awd

Eh I dont like imports at all although a STi isnt really a civic or something there is a crap load of technology under the hood and there had better be for what the damn car costs.. Just my .02 though..

Better Luck next time,

A STI Vs. a CAI/Header LT1 from a roll...the LT1 should pull it from a roll - eventually. I'd think it would be a decent race to 90 or so.

STi's run 12s stock, no the turbo is not small and it is very powerful. A slightly modded STi can run upwards of 160mph, and they can launch like a motherfuc*er!
