Spanked a WRX

Spanked a WRX last night on the way home from work. He had just taken off from the light as I pulled up alongside about 20mph. Both floored them and I shot about 3 cars ahead and stayed that way until the next intersection which had us about 100mph when I let out of it. It was an 06 with that ugly grill and a hood scoop. He was definitely surprised how that old Camaro pulled him.

What does a German car have anything to do with a korean motor?

Porsche uses the same horizontally oppose engine layout as Subaru. No "V"

But they aren't the same motor, and most certainly not called the same thing, so that's like me saying

"I dont like the sound of LS1's, but I DO like Fords inline-6"

Note the spelling...

You're thinking

Porsche_Boxster

not

Boxer_engines
The boxer engine (also known as a horizontally opposed engine) in which the corresponding pistons reach top dead centre simultaneously. Boxer engines should not be confused with opposed piston engines, which use a completely different concept.

The WRX actually has a boxer engine

WRX

Originally introduced in 1992 in Japan, then shortly afterwards in Australia and Europe, the WRX had a turbocharged flat-4 2.0L (then later a 2.5L) engine. Compared to the base Impreza, the WRX has wider low-profile tires, larger brakes, and firmer, higher quality suspension components.
Flat-4

A flat-4 is a four cylinder internal combustion engine where the cylinders are arranged in a flat configuration, also referred to as horizontally opposed. Flat fours can either be a 180-degree V configuration in which opposing cylinders share a common crank journal, or one in which they have crank journals opposing each other, commonly known as a boxer engine, due to the fact that opposing cylinders reach top dead center simultaneously, and appear to 'punch' one another.
WRX GC8F

GC8F (1999)

The 1999MY WRX is introduced on September 1998. The power rating remains the same as the previous year's model, but the torque is increased to 34.5 kg·m (338 N·m) at 4000 rpm due to improvements on the engine design (the engine was dubbed as Boxer Phase II engine). The car now has a curb weight of 1270kg. The WRX Type RA receives the same power upgrades and has a weight increase of 20 kg to 1210 kg.
Now we know...and knowing is half the battle!

I'm on my first Subaru and I love the way the engine is designed. Everything is so easy to reach. You can replace the starter without getting under the car!

If Subaru ever puts turbos on their 6 cyls, then the fun will begin. There are a few tuners that have done it themselves -- the physical engine install is almost like the stock 4 cyl. They're making over 400whp at only 11-12 psi. It may be different but I don't see anything wrong with it!

Not gonna lie.. those Subie 4's sound fantastic! Heck, if the newer-generation Imprezza's were cheaper i would LOVE to pick one up.

I liked the wrx's when they 1st came out but the look has kinda worn on me, as far as 4 cyclinder imports are concerned now im an evo man, I think they look ten times better w/ decently priced mods. Wrx mods are too expensive, and im not crazy about the sti's looks... I do think legacys are nice looking though.
