Some Saturday night racing.

Met up with a few friends, mostly ricers, at a good racing spot. First race was an AWD Eclipse/Talon with an aftermarket turbo and FMIC and im sure some other things. We launched about the same but i end up pulling 1-2 cars on him. We raced from a roll on the way back with the same results. Next race was a newer GTI running 22lbs of boost and some other mods. From a stop, i raped him a new one, probably 6-7 carlengths, but from a roll i still had about 2-3 cars on him. Next was a 85 Monte Carlo or something similar with a 350 and some other stuff. I had about 2 cars on him by about 90 mph. Next was an 04 Mustang GT with long tubes, x-pipe, catback, gears, DR's, and some other small things. First race he spun a little and i ended up getting him by about 3 cars. On the way back we raced again and he missed 3rd. We raced again, this time i got him by about 1-2 cars by 100mph. Overall it was a good night. I didnt have an losses, no cops showed up, my car is still intact and nobody was injured.

There were a few SRT-4's there and a newer Evo, but they didnt want to race.

Re: Some Saturday night raceing.

Is the 1/8th mile ET in your sig still applicable? Any AWD DSM with a bigger turbo and FMIC should have that covered by a full second or more by just the 1/8th and should have the trap speed to keep pulling on the top end.

Notice I say should here because as usual with racing, anything can happen.

Re: Some Saturday night raceing.

Well im running with no spare and jack, no rear or passenger seats and no front swaybar. So about 100lbs weight reduction. We ran up to about 90mph. He got about a fender on me at the launch but i pulled him in, especially up top, and ended up 1-2 car lenghts ahead.

This was also the 90-94 model so i dont know if that makes a difference.

I was thinking this, but wasn't going to type it. I was running 8.21 @ 83 mph on my current setup, which only uses a mild (Big 16g) turbo upgrade and still the wimpy stock sidemount intercooler and stock intercooler piping.

I'm thinking the guy either doesn't know how to tune his car (most likely) or just didn't pick components wisely. Or I guess he could always just be a REALLY crappy driver.
