Umm no. Torque is based on displacement, not on number of cylinders...

When was the last time you saw a 1.8L V8? The smallest production V8 I've ever heard of was the DOHC 3.4 in the SHO a few years back.

Exactly! Ferrari F40, 2.9 liter V-8. But this was a very low volume production car.

Really? I have only heard of crazy people swapping in 350 Chevy motors and such into bikes.

Torque is based on displacement not the number of cylinders... In fact a 1.8 liter V8 would probably have less torque than a 1.8 liter 4 banger...

All trucks dont use V8's in fact alot of the big rigs you see use Inline 6 cyl engines that make 1500- 2000 lb/ft of torque.... because of thier size not the number of cylinders...

The main reason that trucks use V8's is to increase the DISPLACEMENT by adding cylnders.

and yes there are production V8 motorcycles... http://www.bosshoss.com/502.html

I'm talking about the big companies. Kawasaki, Suzuki, Honda, etc. I guess you could consider Boss Hoss's as "production"...

Did u see that i excluded big rigs, besides those are deisel... and those engines are enormous... at work the boss has a nice 84 (maybe 86 i forget) peterbuilt, custom truck had the last axel sawed off & added an extra axel to his trailer to compinsate for the weight.

i think this maybe what i ment to say,

a V8 will have more torque then a four cylinder of equal horsepower. instead of equal size.

The highest redline for a production bike I have ever heard is about 13,000 rpm.
