RX7 Vs. Z

My friend wants me to race some guy he knows that has a twin turbo rx7 i think its a '95. I was wondering what these run stock in the 1/4 and if my '96 z will keep up with it or not.

From what I just read off one site it says that a TT RX7 has 255 hp @6500
His main advantage would be his light weight. What mods do you have? Is this a factory twin turbo car or did he get aftermarket turbos.

I would find out what he is running first. I work with a guy with the same year RX7 that is built up and he is posting low 12s with no traction on street tires. Radials or slicks can make a whole different ball game for him.

Agreed. Assuming he is stock, what do you think his quarter mile times would be?

They can easily keep up w/ LT1's and w/ a few mods destroy them, like any turbo w/ the right mods they get fast quick...w/ a good driver they are capable of 13.7-9 stock

Re: RX7 Vs. Z

Even things up and get a power adder and do some weight reduction. A 150 shot of juice would do the trick

Just strip as much weight as possible. If he is bone stock it should be a drivers race.

Re: RX7 Vs. Z

I had a RX-7 TT they can run 13.9 stock but I think they are much faster at coolder weather or nigh time, in a hot day under the hood heat made my car run like crap. So if you race him make sure its day time and hot out.

Not like the 7 though. Those things have so much underhood heat it's not funny. It's one of the reasons that they break down so often. It gets so hot under the hood that the vacuum hoses and such can literally melt. In fact, replacing the nest of vacuum hoses under the manifold with silicone hoses is one of the first things rx7 owners do.

Ditto. Stock for stock should be a good race though.
