Run in with a STI

Since the STI was released I wanted to run one. I have read the motor tend and other related articles on the car, and know its quick (13.0-13.2). I always thought it was a cool car.
Anyways I was on 364 and I was pacing him at roughly 65, and he just took of. He got about a car ahead before I got on it and it downshifted and took off. We were in for a long time, I finally let out about 135-140 (RS speedo goes to 110) with him the exact same distance ahead. It was an interesting because I would start to pull (he was spooling), then he would stop my pull, and pull a TAD (spooled). I never ran him down, but I did have my tops off, windows down, and 65-135 is not the "sweet spot" for the auto.
I do realize that he would want me form a dig. I am not making excuses. I think it would be a good race at the track with my tops. It was a fun run, later.

Nice race. Tuff one though for you. Those ttops did hurt you with wind drag and all. Those Sti cars are no joke. With basic mods, good tires and a skilled driver, they run in the 12s all day.

I am a diehard old schooler but I think it is entertaining to see a V-8 muscle car guy pull up to a "4 banger ricer car" (so many people use this reference ) and think that car has no chance. Then they take off and that same cocky, uneducated person is trying his hardest to catch up to this little POS that just put 3 or more car lengths on him! LOL

I do not encourage the ricer mad crap but when a turbo 4 banger is knocking down 12 second time slips, I think thats cool !

Heavy

Again...nice race.

I knew they were no joke, that is why I wanted to play around. The t-tops really hurt me on the high speed blast, but it is run what you brung. Oh well it was a nice day and I wanted to go crusie with the tops off, that is one thing the STI can't do . However snow is one thing mine can't do . Turbos are cool and have scary potential. All in all he was probably surprised, knowing I had my tops off, and he still could not shake me. I thought it was a cool little car.
