Ran an 05 350z Tonight

So a guy pulled up in a 350z and I asked him if he'd like to run them. He said sure so we headed out. We catch a light and we take off and I have a weak launch I didn't spin the tires but I could have rolled into it a bit more. I put about two car's on him and my friend said I was slowly pulling away and I hit about 110 maybe 120 and shut her down. He said it was stock which I'm not sure to believe or not. I just think I should have walked him pretty easy with the mods I have done and him being stock. Don't 05 350z's run like a 14.2 or 14.3 stock? So I was kind of upset about that. I'm sure i'm running a little rich since I don't have one of my o2 extension wires hooked up but I don't think that'd make to big of a diffrence.

Sounds about right...generally they run lower 14's and higher 13's w/ a good driver..the best stock time ive seen to date was a 13.7...good kill

I think it sounds about right..they are rated think about 285? You do have the macs and cold air not sure how much the flowmaster ads for hp.Some debate on that issue. I am not sure if they are slightly lighter than your car also that might account for the closeness too.And other things your tuning..miles on your car etc. You could be down 10 mabye 20 hp from engine age alone. And then you have plugs, wires, tuning. 02 sensors have no effect on wot..its funny when I see people blame them. They can indirectly slow you down if you are tuning from their readings though.
I guess the torque from a v8 doesn't really help to beat the 6 banger all that much I thought it would ,maybe on drag rubber where the v8 might have some off the line advantages on the 6.

Re: Ran an 05 350z Tonight

I am beyond bored so I figured I could do some bench racing to pass the time.

Nissan 350 Z
3.5L V6
Horsepower 287 @ 6200 RPM
Torque (lb-ft) 274 @ 4800 RPM
Curb Weight 3188

I didn't think that 350Z's were that light. After looking at all the different types of them, the weight varies from 3,188- 3,479.

The anniversary edition has 300 hp.

The outcome of your race was about right as others said. How are your plugs, wires, fuel filter doing? How many miles on the motor?

Edit - What Y-Pipe are you running? And is the flowmaster the catback? Or just the muffler?

Second Edit - Do you have any track times or dyno numbers for your car?

Hold on for the tripple edit

Re: Ran an 05 350z Tonight

The guy did say he had the 300hp model. My car has about almost 59k on it now. The fuel filter has about 2000 miles on it. I took my car to the track once and I ran a 9.33@76.25. But I had a misfire on #8 (later found out the spark plug was half-way backed out and the wire was bad) and my headers weren't on at that time either. I've got the wires I just need to get some plugs and i'll change them out because they are probably due by now. I also have a exhaust leak where the cat hooks up to my y-pipe so I don't know if that could cause any power loss. The y-pipe is the one that mac includes with their headers and it's a flowmaster catback. Funny thing is the guy said he test drove a 05 Gto and that his car was faster and yet I beat him

I dont know how the guy would think that. Surely driving the GTO would feel faster because one it is, and 2 there is a boatload difference in torque.

Your 1/8 ET comes out to roughly a 14.64 1/4. But that is with all the problems you listed and minus headers. With traction and good weather you should be able to post up some mid 13 ET's with ease.
