Raced my sister in her B/F's 01 GT

Well I was following my sister in my T/A and she was driving (obviously) her B/F's 01 GT Mustang 5 speed. I was behind her and she calls me on my cell phone. She says she wants to race. I just said start going anytime you want and hung up. So she punches it and I do the same. Keep in mind I am behind her about a car length. So as I get in the other lane I have to slow down to stay next to her and point and laugh, and then pass her like that car has a 4 cyl. I love beating those cars. It all the more glorious when its your sister! Oh good times, good times.

P.S. And yes she can drive a stick, better than most actually.

A 99+ Stock to lightly modded GT is no match for the long tubes

honestly, my 305 iroc eats those new GT's. i have a rebuilt motor, but only modding i did was porting the heads a lil, 3 angle valve job, and ramjet 350 cam. (.431/.451" lift 196/206 @.050) 3.42's, mostly stock 700r4, and headers and catback. yet to make a best run on the new setup, but I've been eating those 260hp gt's all the time. those autos are pitiful, and the 5 spd/6spd (whatever they are) hang closer in the higher rpms, but my torque kills it. Like i've seen other guys say in other kill stories..... it's said when a 93 Z28 would beat an 04 GT. even worse that a 90 iroc l98 (245hp,345lb.ft.) completely stock will beat a new GT by a tick on the clock. that was 14 years ago!!!!

Not bad for an LB9

Reminds me of a time when a buddy of mine with his stock 87 L98 IROC was side-by-side with another one of our buddys 2000 GT from 35-90 (I was ridin right seat in the GT)... IROC had headers and a muffler and a 700-R4... the GT had 1 chambler flows and a 5 speed. It was pretty neat to see the look on fat boy's face when we slowed down and he said "That IROC is pretty fast!"

how did u know it was an lb9? could have been an l03... lol but it is an lb9. i wouldn't have bothered a rebuild with a l03. stock torque is 295lb.ft. on the lb9 305 in 89. that's what wins me races. I'm guessing my power is right around 235-250rwhp, and 325-345 lb.fr. torque at the wheels. my setup should be good for higher 13's on street tires. might be able to run a 13.7 or so with a 2400 stall. right now i just have the 2000 stall POS converter. i lvoe the torque, the the tpi sucks when u hit like 4500 rpm. it all poops out and feels like you're gonna blow the motor when u hit 5000.

What do long tubes give an otherwise bone stock LT1? 10-15 rwhp?

steve, not sure on an lt1, but on an ls1, slp long tubes usually give about 20-25rwhp on a bone stock ls1. GMHTP magazine got like 38rwhp from ls6 intake and slp long tubes with slp loudmouth catback. very respectable to be running low 12's, if it had the proper converter, and slicks. and thats still on the 3.23's

Rich West gained 3 mph in the 1/4 from Just long tubes. I am guessing this guys entire exaust system minus cats has gained him 5-6 mph in the 1/4. Exaust on an LT-1 goes much farther than an exaust on a Mustang. There is a good chance he is running 105-108 traps.

I gained a solid 4-5 mph from just switching to long tubes. I never ran faster than 101 prior to them and ran as fast as 107 after them. However the 107 was in better weather. So an average of 4 mph is probably pretty accurate. I figure 30 rwhp is at least a close estimate of what I picked up if you go by the 1mph = ~10hp.

Great thing is, the GT has a 100-150 (not sure which) of nitrous. Obviously she wasnt using it, only because the bottle isnt hooked up......

And long tubes gain you about 20 rwhp.

Were you beaten as a child? You seem to be a very mean, pesimistic type person.

I'd imagine LTs give LT1s more gain than LS1s since our exhaust manifolds are more restrictive than LS1s.
