Raced A Damn Diesel.
Raced A Damn Diesel.
So it was my first time ever to race at a drag strip(1/8th) last night and I was excited.I have a stock 02 T/A A4(2.73) Convert.
Any way I lined up next to this 01 or 02 Dodge Ram diesel. It was tall with a lift and 35 in tires on it. Loud as hell too with black smoke coming out of the back.
Any way the light tuned green and I floored it with no wheel spin but my car in first ran all the way to red line and dropped the RPMs in 2nd ( could my rev limiter kicked down my momentum). He just pulled on me from the start. At the line he had me by a Truck length. Kinda sucked to get beat by a truck. Oh well he must of had some dough in that bad boy.
2.3453 60ft
6.1948 330ft
9.3399 1/8th
79.06 mph

Those trucks can be made decently quick. Thing is... your times are absolutely horrid. Turn things around and get a set of drag radials along with 3.73 gearing. Did you hit the rev limiter ? you would be able to tell if you did. If so then that says you have tranny problems if the A4 is not shifting correctly. You aught to be pulling 2.0 sixty footers on average stock.
First time I took my 1999 A4 2.73 geared Z28 to the track it ran 8.80s at 82 mph with a 2.1 60 foot on the factory radials.

i dont mean to make fun but Mikie is right those times are pretty bad but i dont know your track conditions i have 2.73's in my 95 T/A and my 60's were around 2.05-2.10 but dont feel to bad those disels can realy hall a$$
They sure as **** can.
I saw a comparison a while back.. the biggest of the biggest of the Big Three's trucks being tested.. one test had a quad-cab, long-bed, dualie (all three brands) doing the 1/4, WITH A BOAT ATTACHED. Dont remember which size, but pretty darn long. The Chevy did the 1/4 w/ the BOAT attached, quicker than a LOT of cars do in the 1/4.

u gotta admit that u can really got a lot of power out of one of those its impresive to see a truck that heavy go that fast in the 1/4 if i were to own anything else well first i'd get a crotch roket and them a diesel
Ya about a weak ago I was watching "Pimp my Ride" on mtv, when they took this kids 1965 Impala and stuck a GM duramax desial in it.The dam thing got 25mpg and put down 800hp.
They wasted a lambo in it.Those desials have alot of potential.
