Race with 2005 Lancer Evolution

This girl that was at my house last night knows this guy with this 2005 Lancer Evolution. Well she gets here and I mention to her to call him and see if he wanted to race. Well she calls him and he says that if I drive and meet him to race he would be glad to smoke me. So we go out to race. We both had a passenger in the car. His gf counted down and he jumped the gun out of the hole and instantly had 1 1/2 cars on me. I was reeling him in the whole race but just couldnt pass him before he shut down at about 115mph. So he gets next to me again and admits that he thought he jumped first so he wanted to go again. Well this time I let him honk 3 times. We got a more even launch this time and he only had maybe 1 car on me out of the hole. Well I instantly start reeling him in. I had made up the car length he had on me and was about to take the lead and he misses 3rd gear and I just flew in front of him by about 2 cars after that. I wasnt up for racing again bc I didnt have alot of gas and he had already takin me way out into the country for this race. I know I was spinning some on the launch and his AWD was murdering me. Does this sound right tho. I am pretty sure car and driver rated these cars at like 13.1 or something like that? Well anyways, just thought I would share the story. Peace, Dustin.

Good runs! Put on a bigger stall and you'll beat him!

The I4 is never running N/A, if that makes you feel better. Throw on some boost or get a better cam.

Re: Race with 2005 Lancer Evolution

How much more HP is the 05 Evo rated at than the 03 and 04 evo? I raced 2 2004 evos and just straight up raped both of them when my car was completely stock aside from DRs, borla catback, and CAI. 1 race was on the highway where I pulled away like 2 or 3 car lengths and the other race was from a stop, where beleive it or not I launched on the thing by 3/4 car legnth and then just kept pulling away until about 120 and by then I was atleast 3 or more car lengths ahead of this thing so I just stopped. To tell you the truth, the car I raced from a stop is my friends evo that I rode in and drove a few times and granted its a sweet ride, especially drifting it around turns, but it never really felt like it pulled anywhere near as hard as my car does (when his car was also stock anyway). I beleive the 04 evo's are claimed to run 13.4s, which I highly question cuz the best my car ever ran stock was 13.9, but normal runs were around 14.0x. Does anyone know what is different in the 05 evos besides the active yaw control and LSD in the front and rear?

Re: Race with 2005 Lancer Evolution

I am pretty sure the 2005 is somewhere around 300hp. As far as I am concerned, I didnt lose. The second race he jumped the gun and the first race I was passing him as he missed 3rd gear. Had he not missed 3rd gear I know I would have one by at least 1 car length. I also realize the fact that if I was at a glued track I would have beat him by more. Oh well, I had fun racing him. But my god those things to launch hard. Peace, Dustin.

I love how he thought he would "smoke you" with his oh so fast evo. What an a** bag! Typical rice boy for ya. Hes probably friends with our resident ricer GotBoost . They sit at home on friday nights watching the fast and the furious and log onto camaroz28 to laugh at all of our slow f-bodies . Good race none the less. What car did the chick like more, the ricer or the Z?

Re: Race with 2005 Lancer Evolution

There is a guy here with a 2005 Evo 8, played with him from a roll. it was pretty quick, but i easily jumped him as i was right in my new powerband peak at about 3200 rpm in second gear. Z ya later bitch.
However, i think with my ailing clutch he would take me from a dig coz i dont have DR's either. O well, my car is stronger, faster, etc etc..

Yeah, Stronger, faster, 8 cylinders, nice to look at..... And then theres the EVO. And dont forget the driver who is usually wearing his hat sideways and has pants two sizes too big. I must be old cause I never thought that was cool. But hey, what the hell do I know!

LOL, thats hilarious. This guy was a good guy though, i talked with him a while afterwards. He was a clean cut guy in a prep sweater and dress shoes, LOL. I think he might be military, who knows.

BUT, i have to admit, the car was in a sense, "nicer" than mine. It WAS brand new, while mine has almost 100k. Oh well, i prefer absolute power, not power coaxed from a turbo and a four banger mustering for all its worth. I think i could hang with him at 3/4 throttle like i do to all the 350 Z's around here, AFTER i give them a 1 car jump. Gotta love that shiz.

Re: Race with 2005 Lancer Evolution

I think that sounds about right, he's probably pulling a 1.8-9 out of the hole to your 2. something. Plus you were pulling on him, which is no easy task on a turbo'd car. You could always have made it even and used your power adder I say get a E-WP, ASP Pulley and some LT's and you would have pulled right past him.

As for the rice-boy comments I cant agree more. No words of mine can describe my complete hatred of ricers, and it seems SRT-4 and Evo owners are the worst out there. They seem to "jump" at the begining of races *cough cheat cough* They also talk more **** than cow manure salesmen.

Glad you didnt get smoked. Whats your next mods?

i don't understand how it was even a remotely close race with the mods you have and against a what is assumed to be a stock 05 evo. I mean when I raced the two 04 evo's with a almost bone stock 93 z28 (besides DRs, catback and intake) I straight up spanked both of them... a 20 hp increase in the 05 is a bit, but not a huge increase by any mean. I dunno, but it sure as hell put a smile on my face when I beat my friends 04 evo being that my car is almost 13 years old, uses pushrods, practically no technology aside from fuel injection and was purchased for 6 grand and it still managed to beat a brand new $30,000 evo by a lot.
