I plan on racing him soon. He has a new clutch he has to install and I need to take care of my shift linkage probably before I can drive my car again. I see the guy all the time. he is actually pretty kewl about his car. He doesnt talk alot of **** about it, just other people do. They have either ridin in the car before or just think it sounds super fast. But I have the feeling people are going to be saying the same thing about my car very soon

I raced a modded STI similar to the guy in your town from a roll on the freeway. He got the jump, AND sprayed that super cold water crap that adds 50hp (apparently) and I took him down by 2 car lengths from 60-100. We pulled over and talked for a bit (thats how I knew about the water spray thing) and he was really cool about it. You have more mods than I do with cam and stall... You have nothing to worry about.

Anyway, with his mods, he's pretty close on his rwhp guess. Regardless, he's probably only trapping 98-100 mph and with a good 60' could maybe reach mid-high 13's.

I guess you are the new king in town. Set up the race soon. I'd like to hear the outcome.

Hey, Mr. Technical, wouldn't it be AWHP not RWHP????

He is talking ricer jargon. The water sprayer does help, but it is not a 50 horsepower increase.

How much does it add? What does it do exactly?

You are correct. I had a typo. Sorry about that. Too used to typing rwhp on this board.

Still wondering if he meant Up-pipe though. I've done some work on a WRX(took my buddies up to "stage 2" plus some) and would like to know how this race turns out. Even after all the work on my buddies car, it felt like my LT1 did stock, as far as acceleration is concerned. He might trap about 98 mph now.

You should race him where everyone sees it, let off at 100 so it looks more like a slaughter, and then tell him to take his lawn mower else where ( the interesting wrx exhaust note ).

BTW. Where is GOTBOOST? I thought he was the most knowledgeable turbo guy on camaroz28.com. lol jk

I'm not sure of exact numbers, but it is nowhere near 50 ponies. It sprays water onto the intercooler ( I think ) which in turn cools the incoming air charge.

a down pipe frees up the exhaust even more, but if he doesnt have any hard intercooler pipeing dont worry about him, just make sure you have a nice set of sticky tires under your car. 16.5 psi and nothing for an import, i run 20psi on my stock turbo'd 1G (1st generation) DSM, you will win though, just make sure to slow down and wave as you pass him, cuz no matter what hes gonna slaughter you from the launch, but you will reel him in quick!

as long as his tuning isnt extensive you should take him. a friend of mine has an 05 wrx his is fast as hell. But he's got a header, turbo back exhaust, intake, fmic and tuning. some wrx's can pull an extra 50 hp with tuning and an ecu so just make sure theres no ecu and you should be able to take him. dont mess up on the launch because thats the only way i've lost to my buddy. and everyones right wrxs have no high end power its all about gettin out of the hole clean

how restrictive could those little exhausts on those cars possibly be?

In any case, they'll take off like all get out, but fall on their face pretty quickly, just like most AWD cars.

Re: potential race with a WRX...need some input

My buddy in Texas has a WRX with close to the same mods. He has a cai, boost controller running around 14.5 psi on 103, cat back, down pipe, mild tuning and some different intercooler parts w/ some stupid rubber parts that he paid to much for. All of this and 20 minutes of a bag of ice on the intercooler got a whopping 13.8. But this was Houston in the Summer.
Don't worry about the loss, I had an LT1 car similiar to yours and when traction wasn't an issue he would lose. Too bad you picked the Nittos. I've had bad luck with those tires.
Oh, like as said before, make sure you are doing more than an 1/8th. YOu may be playing catch up.

Restrictive? Three cats plus turbo is damn restrictive!

On the Legacy GT, just removing one cat and a getting ECU flashed nets 50HP/60lbs-ft of torque to the wheels. Not just gains from the restriction being removed, the ecu can be remapped to take advantage of the better breathing. Kinda a 2 for 1 for turbo motors.

You will definetely win. I raced a stock wrx in my stock mustang GT a few weeks ago from a roll (80mph - 110mph) and took him by like 2.5 - 3 cars. They are very weak from a roll, and just like everyone else is saying they have the clear advantage from a dig, but with your mods you have nothing to worry about.
