Porsche Carrera 4s gets panties all wet
Made a left onto Bodega Highway (yes, Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds") and was heading west towards the coast. Found myself coming up on a about 6 cars, being led by a truck pulling a horse trailer. Just behind that truck was a modern Porsche Carerra 4s (2000+) and five other slugs. We meander through a few valleys and curves, tops about 55 MPH, but significantly slower at times. Very frustrating.
So a passing opportunity (broken yellow) comes up, and I drop to 3rd and mash the throttle to take the Z28/SS past as many as I can. Couldn't take all of them, so I fall behind the Porsche. About a half mile later, another passing opportunity shows up...it's a shallow sweeper to the right, I can see around both the Porsche and the truck/trailer and there is no oncoming traffic to deter opportunities. I'm still in 5th.
The Porsche, (after reading my brain waves), drops gear and blows very, very rapidly around the truck/trailer. I'm caught off-guard in the wrong gear..I drop into 4th, but the Porsche continues to pull away, so I push it into 3rd and let the SS do what's best.
I promptly accelerate to 6000 RPM, hit 4th and fly past the truck/trailer and have stopped losing ground am now closing in on the Porsche, whom was still accelerating.
I continue to about 130 and seriously begin reeling the Porsche in closer. We have no one but ourselves for the next couple of miles. The Porsche tears through curves at 90+, and I am on his @ss. No where to pass. We continue ripping through the countryside at 100+ for another mile, then my turnoff comes up, I flash and leave him to dry his undies.
I know I had a sure kill and could've blown past him at will.
